Alright, it looks like we have some guests joining, but yeah, welcome to this web and R Series. This is a part of our fall webinar series and this is Fort Collins from a students perspective, so we're really excited to welcome some of our student pastors to answer some questions about Fort Collins and why we love it so much. So I will welcome all my student pastors on screen.
Let's see. So think will have one more joining us, but this is an awesome group of ambassadors so I think it would be beneficial for everyone for us to start off by introducing ourselves I will start off. I will be moderating this panel today. My name is Emily. I am a junior here at CSU. I am studying management and Political Science an I am from Parker Co. Some things I'm involved in at CSU are asks you which is our student government, the Deans Student Leadership Council.
For the College of business I campus Christian Ministry called Chris and I also play a lot of I am sports will start with let's eat and then go to Mitch David and then Lauren.
Alright, like I really said my name is Lindsey. I'm a sophomore studying family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in education I'm on. I'm originally from for college so I've been in Fort Collins my entire life. I'm part of cruise, which is like a peer education program and then I also mentor high school students off campus as well.
Everybody, my name is Mitch I'm from Columbus OH. I'm studying watershed science with a minor in Spanish and I'm a sophomore here at CSU.
Howdy everybody, my name is David. I'm a senior studying journalism and media communications, majoring in legal studies and music production. I'm also from Morrison, Co.
Lauren, we can't hear you.
Now OK high when I am a second year study. Environmental health with a minor in Biomedical Sciences. I am originally from Orange County, California. I am also in the honors program here as well as a peer mentor for the honest program and I'm also on the cross country and track track team an involved in Ram Catholic.
Wonderful, so something for all our guests here. Today is you have the option to ask questions, so feel free to submit any questions through the chat about anything CSU or things in Fort Collins just to point out all of these students viewing this webinar today are from out of state, which I think is really cool. So if we can start off by out of state ambassadors, do we have any out of state?
There we go, mention Lauren. Yes, weapon Lauren. Will you talk about maybe why you decided to come to Colorado and leave your home state?
Well, that's that's that's a big question right there. To start off with. Alright, so Lauren if you don't mind, I'll go first. Is that OK? Alright, cool. So I guess I started looking at colleges in Ohio and you know I was. I was looking at what not and I'd like them. They're cool, they're fun. And then I came out here. My aunt was living out here and I was just like you know I'll just go look at at Colorado State.
You know, I just walk around, meet the nice admissions people, and just walk around. You know, just enjoy everything. It was vacation for me. So finally ended up at the end of the store. Really liking campus, you know. The people were amazing. The sites were beautiful. I mean I was walking like right next to the mountains. Like how cool is that? You don't get that in Ohio, so I just decided you after a couple weeks of pondering it I was like wow, I'm I'm just going to make the move and go to Colorado State and I told my mom when she was little bit sad but still she was happy for me and that's.
Kinda how I ended up out here.
Lauren, what was the appeal of Fort Collins for you?
Much like Mitchell said, I have family out here and I knew I wanted to go out of state just because I knew that college was a time where I could live somewhere else and have it not be permanent. And so I decided that I wanted to get out of state. So I was looking at a bunch of East Coast schools, but I was really concerned about the snowy weather being from Southern California and so since I had family out here, I started looking into Colorado Anna soon as I got on to Colorado state's campus, it was pretty trees in the Oval in the mountains.
And it would. It just felt like home and it was so pretty. And although it does no, I feel like Colorado has like a pretty moderate winter which is very manageable for me now. So I think it's just the appeal of the mountains and the climate. And just like a change of scenery and that drew me to CSU.
Yeah, that's awesome. I think something we get asked a lot by out of state students here in the office of admissions is how would we describe the weather in Colorado? David, do you want to take a look at that one? How would you describe weather here?
I think one thing that makes Colorado pretty unique is we have four truly defined seasons. Although they might not. All you know, share an equal sliver of our calendar year. Being born and raised here. Winters can be tough. I would say Fort Collins a lot more.
Easy in terms of the snow and the temperatures compared to when you go South or West of here. I think Denver gets hit a little bit harder but The thing is I know Colorado gets over 300 days of sunshine so it kind of gets interesting where it can be snowing down. There's not a single cloud in the Sky and.
That's interesting, but at the same time you get a good mix of low 90s mid 80s. In the summer all the way through.
I'd say we get freezing. It's not like other parts of the country where gets sub zero or anything like that.
Just workwear let layers? That's my recommendation.
That is so key wear layers because you can walk out in the morning and it can be snowing, but you'll walk home from school in the afternoon and the sun will be shining. But like David said, we do have four distinct seasons here, which I think is really cool.
So we're going to talk about some of the things students love to do in Fort Collins and I first wanted to start off with talking about Old Town. So let's see do you want to talk about what Old Town? Is and maybe something students like to do there?
So what's crazy about Alton's Old Town that I think it's Disneyland, like the setup that it has like it's inspired by Old Town because it's so. It's so cool but Old Town is just a cool place to just hang out. You can literally do anything you don't have to purchase anything you don't have to eat anything anywhere. You can just walk around and see like the people. The vibe like it's just always so great they have like little lights during the winter and it's just beautiful and everyone just kind of.
When there's like a big um.
One of those like I don't know like a big just like March or anything like that. Usually it ends up somehow in Old Town and it's just beautiful to set up that people have there and it's just great to go see and there's like little fountains for like kids to play in an. There's like little chairs and tables and a lot of the artwork that's done in Old Town is by people living in Fort Collins, similar students some or not, but it's just beautiful to see. Like the creations that people come up with and just see how beautiful it is and the vibe there is just so it's just amazing.
That's awesome, yeah, I think that's great. I got a comment saying that some people are struggling with audio. Is that just one guest? If there's other guests struggling with audio, let me know.
But moving on something else that is very popular with CSU students is Horsetooth Reservoir Mitch. Do you want to maybe talk about your experience exploring at Horsetooth? Maybe why students love it so much?
Yeah, sure, so Horsetooth is really, really nice. It's you know, as funny as it sounds like horse too. It's it's. It's kind of inspired by rock up in the point that looks like a horses tooth, which is also really cool, but the Horsetooth Reservoir is is really interesting. I'm actually watershed science major, so it's even more interesting than that. Just for you know everyone else. But no, it's a great place to go and kind of hang out a lot of power. Boarding happens up there swimming. All there's always boats running up there just doing like wake surfing or.
2 being stuff like that, and obviously if you don't have a boat like I don't have out here, go up just kind of hang out with your friends on a nice sunny day. It's it's really nice area to go up to and what's awesome is and actually did this this morning. I went up trail running by Horsetooth so I went and basically ran around the reservoir and there's trails and there's all sorts of things up there that you can do like hiking trail running if you're in a mountain biking. It's it's really just like a really close playground for anyone who loves.
Remotely outdoor things. It's amazing and you could fish there too if you like fishing, so hopefully that helps.
What a great way to describe that. Basically an outdoor playground. It's seriously like 10 minutes away from campus and Mitch is right. Everything from you just want to go on a really easy hike to paddle boarding to mountain biking. Greeley, it does have everything.
Alright, um question I have for everyone is do you have a favorite study spot off campus in Fort Collins? And we'll start with let's see and then go Mitch David Lauren.
Who am I would have to say?
In the app Lory Student Center there's like this little.
Gosh, what is it called? Oh Oh no, no no no no like a fireplace and there's like chairs around it. I studied. I was like I had to study there one time and I absolutely loved it. 'cause I had class in like 45 minutes and I just loved it and I just went. I kept going back as it was just so comfortable and warm especially during the winter. Like it's so cliche. But just like doing homework and like watching the little fire and then there's like windows so you can like see it when it's snowing outside. It's just. It's It's perfect.
That's awesome. What about you match?
Um, definitely on campus is in the library. There's really, really nice courtyard right in the center of the Morgan Library, and like favorite memory is, you're just kind of sitting in there. It's, you know, it's getting. It's getting full like you have a nice Cup of hot Joe on the table doing your whatever you're doing on your homework assignments. And like leaves just falling like hit you in the face. You're like, wow, I love fall, you know it's it's awesome, but off campus. I think in Fort Collins probably just like any coffee shop, really. I mean.
It's there's so many coffee shops here that you can kind of just test out a new one every other weekend or every weekend, you know. So I really, really do enjoy the coffee shops as well as the study.
So many good coffee shops. What about you, David?
Yeah for myself when I catch myself on campus I need to study someone who definitely needs a little bit of extra extra help. So I like to go down to the basement. The library, which is a quiet free zone and also feel it feels bad if like you have to whisper down there. It's so quiet really helps me kind of hit the books hard. I guess in terms of when I'm off campus though, I also I live right next to Horsetooth so I like to drive up there and park and set up a hammock between.
Some of the trees and just kind of sprawl out, make my own space. It's the views are gorgeous and it really makes a conducive environment.
My favorite study spot is on the East side of campus by the flower fields, but far field are so pretty and there is a giant grass area that my friends and I like to go to an just lay out a blanket and just sit there and study. Yeah, other than that, off campus alley cat is actually my favorite coffee shop to study at because there's a bunch of paintings all across the ceiling and it's just such a like a cozy like, homey vibe.
Yeah, I Love Alley cat. This is an important question.
And the question is, what makes Fort Collins better than Boulder? I know is a Cala rado at native? I definitely had to consider this for myself, David. Do you have an answer to this?
Yeah, I think when it when it comes down to it, it's just, I think weighing your options is really the best thing. Finding your correct home for myself. I set foot after my tour at Colorado State and it just felt like the place I needed to be with a little bit. I would say there's better access to outdoor activities in my mind, which is why I ended up picking Colorado State over the University of Colorado.
Does anyone have other thoughts on that?
I can also weigh in. Oh, go ahead, Mitch.
Alright, alright so like I said when I came and visited Colorado State and it was kind of the only school I visited here. But after I came to campus and started living doing school and Whatnot so my friends and I went down to the border and we had just kind of like a day trip down there and it was, you know it was a neat town. There was the campus was really pretty and Whatnot, but I did notice like I was a little intimidated for whatever reason. You know it's just the people I was so used to people in Fort Collins, they're like.
Just like Oh yeah, hey, you know come on, come play at Horsetooth with or what not and I just I wasn't totally getting that five there there was. You know, maybe it was there but Fort Collins is just like a big teddy bear. You just wanna let you know, hug and have a good time with so I guess that's me it's you know, different sounds.
Yeah, that's how I would answer it too. I just think that people in Fort Collins or so down to earth friendly, and that's really the main difference. I kind of picked up on when I toured both schools and I've found that to be true. Being here at CSC. Oh, that's a great question. Continue to submit questions you have my next question and I feel like this is a very important question for the college student. What is your favorite food?
In Fort Collins, do you have a favorite restaurant?
I will have everyone share this. This is so hard, but yeah, let's see will start with Lauren this time ago, David Mitch. Let's see.
Matthew Winner
04:15:53 PM
What makes Ft. Collins better than Boulder?
OK, well I do love the dining Hall food so I don't wanna say Parmalee Halls Foundry if I'm being quite honest because they have pokey balls and the Pokey balls are so good but uh, this though it's not technically food. The churn in Old Town. They have this open exchange area and it's called the exchange and there is, uh, it's in like an outdoor area and they have corn hole games an this big ice cream shop.
In the shape of a bucket that makes sense and I have a bunch of friends who are vegan and have dietary restrictions and they have vegan ice cream and shakes that are really good.
This is a hard one for me. There's so many local spots and little hidden places that even four years of living here. I still find a new place every once in awhile for me. I think my go to places Youngs Cafe. It's just I think like a mile to South of campus. It's like I believe Vietnamese, but there's a little bit of everything.
Let's just like whether it's like 4 or something. Other than that, that's that's usually where I like to go.
I'm a I'm a big fan of big city burrito and said You know, kind of a local burrito place here. My cousin took me there my first day on campus.
And it was the first time I ever had potatoes in a burrito.
And I was astounded from there on.
Yeah, I would say um, it's really hard, but I would have to say like I think on the North side of campus like across the train tracks, there's like.
It's just a whole like North College, like the road. There's like food truck after food truck and they're all just like family like. They're just locali like from families that are local. They're owned by them and they're like authentic, like Hispanic food. And it's just really good to just go and try, like 'cause they're all from like different places, whether it's or Mexico weather, it's raining, said download whether it's from.
Like a whole bunch of different places, and so it's really cool to just go and try them and see how different the food is similar, but the taste in the just. It's just so it's different. It's similar but different every time.
Yeah, that makes sense now. I think that's a great answer for me. Oh, it's so hard to pick. There are so many restaurants in Fort Collins. My favorite. I love pizza, so I love Krazy Karls. Pizza y'all. If you have never tried cream cheese on pizza, you are missing out pepperoni and cream cheese at Krazy Karls. That is my favorite.
Next question I have is what is something you didn't know about Fort Collins that you come to learn? Since being a student like maybe something you didn't expect or something like you discovered, that's really fun.
And we'll start with, let's see and go that direction.
I would have to say one thing that I didn't know. I think for me, living in Fort Collins my entire life like I always. I would always like drive by CSU. But when I started living at CSC like living in the dorm rooms, it just feels like a completely different city. Like once I would get off campus onto like the Fort Collins area like it was just completely different and so.
I think for me like learning was to experience like being on campus versus being off campus is very, very different. Personally for me, so I think, yeah, I think that's just the difference in like just the vibe and like being on campus. Obviously you're surrounded by like stressed out college students and then being off campus is just like.
A whole New World and it was different to me.
So for myself, I was very impressed by how environmentally friendly the town is.
When I got here, I'd never really use like bikes as a motive transportation, but that was the thing to do. He just you gotta bike and you could go anywhere. 'cause it's I think for Collins is a platinum city for bicycle transportation, something? Yes, such as that. And I mean there's bike lanes everywhere there's overpass or underpass is anywhere you go. Has a bike rack to lock up your bike with then as well with CSU the amount of recycling and compost that they do.
Even in the rest of the town is insane. I'd never seen like a set up such as that where they basically recycle as much garbage as they produce, which is really, really neat to have that you know that one to one ratio an just everyone else is so outdoorsy as well. So it kind of fits the bill with how environmentally friendly these places are.
I think for myself I was really shocked by transportation as a whole. I believe we have around. It's like a little over 280 miles of bike lanes in Fort Collins.
I like to mountain biking road bike. That's usually the main way I get to campus and around town as well as just using my ram card. I can hop on a bus that was a big way for me to get from point A to B when it was snowing outside. Just the ease of being able to travel and explore outside of campus without having to worry about basically parking or a car. Anything like that was really what blew me away.
Well, I didn't know was actually how cool Old Town was an I don't. I just didn't explore it when I went on my tour here, but I just knew that there was a downtown area that people have said and I remember the first time I went to Old Town. I was so shocked. An people were kind of teasing me like how did you not know this like an it was just the amount of restaurants that are just tucked away everywhere and how iaccessible it is really because you can bike to Old Town.
Super easily an like, Mitch said. There's a bunch of bike racks and yeah, I think I just didn't realize how a close it was to campus and be how many like different things there were in there.
Awesome, so we have a lot of questions. The first one I want to make sure we address is so do you not need a car to get around town, Uber or other transportation available? David, you mentioned this. Basically the answer is no, you don't need to. You can of course do you want to touch on? Maybe like.
Matthew Winner
04:22:42 PM
So you do not need a car to get around town? Uber and/or other transportation available?
Yeah, so kuburan lifter also available in Fort Collins. Also on campus we have a thing called card. I've not personally tried it by some friends that have used it to get just other parts of Colorado. It's basically renting a car there parked on campus as well as in the last year we implemented those bird scooters. Those electronic scooters user right around so there's.
A plethora of different ways you can travel around. I would say you do not need a car to get around Fort Collins. It's it's not a must buy my perspective.
I think that's definitely true. There's a ton of awesome transportation options, something I also want to address. How easy is it to get groceries or snacks? What kind of shops are in the Fort Collins area match? Do you want to talk about this a little? This goes into transportation, but maybe you talk about your personal experience with us.
Mitchell McGarry
04:23:19 PM
How easy is it to get groceries or snacks or the like? What sort of shops are in the Fort Collins area?
Yeah, so I assume that you're meeting like getting snacks and groceries as as an incoming freshman. Probably not as OK, yeah. So so for myself, I would normally, so I was on the meal plan with the in the residence halls and what I would do is I'd go to.
Just kind of like a biweekly trip to Walmart. One of my friends. They had a car, you know, 'cause out of all the friends there has to be, you know one or two people who have a card. It just made it really easy to go to. And from Walmart. I had also thought about using. I don't know David mentioned this, but the transport is the local transportation here in Fort Collins. It's it's a public transportation that you can use your CSU ID to gain access to and there's various stops throughout the.
City, but I would normally just go to Walmart just 'cause it was. It was kind of cheaper. There is a really nice market. It's called Lucky's market and maybe maybe 5 minutes walking distance from campus.
Evan Hannon
04:24:22 PM
Is a car necessary to see a lot of things around Fort Collins?
They have all sorts of snacks and what not really, you know, really good organic, good quality food that you can purchase there and then as well. On campus we do have not just the dining halls, but there's also kind of like a like a quick stop snack like grab and go type type meal options and they have granola bars. They have yogurt, I mean cereal. Anything that you can really think of that would be in a grocery store and you can use your ram cache that comes with your meal.
Meal plan sorry that comes with your meal plan. You can use that ram cash to purchase items within those those shops.
Yep, there is for sure a lot of good options. This question is what is the best thing to do when you're not in Class? I feel like each of you probably have different favourites, so do you want to answer that?
We'll start with, let's see.
Colleen Mellon
04:25:29 PM
sorry what’s the best thing to do when you’re not in class
I think giving yourself some time to just like relax like obviously like finish your homework. Get everything that you need to get done, but if you're not in class and you just kind of finished everything needed to do, just let yourself relax, like literally do what is best for you. I really like crafting and so if I can just like spend like an hour just like crafting, doing something that I like to do.
Even like taking a nap or just like.
I don't know, just like watching something on my phone. Like literally, I think the best thing would just like.
Even like taking a walk around campus, just like take care of yourself. I know like we have a little lagoon is out. The word is that right the like the new one that we have like me receive it is so pretty there and every time like I walk back from class like I just have to sit there for like a solid 2030 minutes just to kind of Lily. Just sayin like breathe the air just watch like little birds and stuff it's just I think just kind of.
Doing what is best for you at the same time but also just like taking a walk, talking to people is just I would say like that's what I usually do for myself. I don't really leave campus as much as I should, but.
Once like I mean, I go see my family here and there, but I don't really leave campus. Much and so I think just like studying somewhere else we're just doing something outside is that it's good.
Alright cool, so I'm definitely, definitely big outdoorsman. I really enjoy hiking, climbing, swimming, trail running. Anything I've got my fly rod right there and I just caught my first Brown trout in the Puter River last night, which is quite exciting. So no, I definitely like just doing anything outdoors and it's so nice because we're really close to the mountains and the streams and rivers and Whatnot, so it's it's a really good opportunity for myself to really get it.
Really immersive experience for being outdoorsman, so that's that's kind of what I enjoy doing in my free time.
Yeah, I'm just to resonate off Mitch. I think the Puter River is awesome, uh, big thing I like to do when it's safe. Is tubing down the Puter River? That's super fun. There's a number of spots you can do it in town. I recommend doing it in the Canyon necessarily, unless you have some experience, but that's a really great thing to do when it's nice outside. Beyond that, music is a huge passion of mine. Whether it's like playing it on my own, there's a lot of local venues I've been able to play.
Since I've came here to call out state, but there's like 7 or so.
Like true as their main purpose music venues and a lot of different wacky places that you can see live music. That's a That's a big thing I could do when I get all my stuff done.
I think my favorite thing to do between classes, if I have a little extra time, is to like text on my friends and get to go from the dining Hall and go to like a grassy area on campus and just check in with one of my friends have a little picnic.
Or take a nap. Taking a nap is definitely an option and I will admit I have taken a nap in the Oval.
Yara boys are big grassy area with these big giant trees. It's a great place to take a nap. I I would agree with that.
Will go back to you Lauren. How is the rec center?
Evan Hannon
04:29:03 PM
How is the rec center?
I'm actually a big fan of the rec center, especially when it is snowing outside and I don't want to run outside. I really like the treadmills on the rec center 'cause they
they look out on the windows on the IAM fields and there's a bunch of windows in the rec center and there's also a really cool aquatic like. I guess that's best way Aquatic Center for like the pool. There's a Lazy River. There's a mini rock climbing wall that falls into the pool.
And there's a massive hot tub in the rec center. Other than that, there's many other things I know that there's a Rockwall an basketball courts. There is a boxing place somewhere in there that one of my friends really enjoys, but I think the rec center is really good and has a lot of amenities.
Now for sure our rec center is amazing. It's one of my favorite things on campus. We have a question of what are the top three freshman dorms? I think that's really hard to answer objectively, but maybe we can give you some information so if we can have Mitch start off by telling our different living styles and then maybe let's see if you'll share your experience living in the residence halls.
Oh yeah, so I mainly feel free to chime in 'cause I'm kind of rusty on the whole different styles right here, but so there's there are a couple of different ones you have. I think it's the community style with the shared bathroom and that is in various. I don't know the names exactly. What's on my head, but it's basically where you where you have an entire whole and you and your sweet or your roommates in the rest of the rooms. Within that whole, you share a community bathroom and shower.
We also have a shared. I don't remember the proper term for it either. Yeah, sweet for sure. Yeah, so the sweet. So it's basically when you have two dorms you have two conjoining dorms and they're connected by a bathroom and basically the most of those storms share that same bathroom. And now the other style is the style that I was in, which I really love is the private bathroom. So it was me and another or my roommate, I should say.
And we had our own bathroom and shower in there and it got all these. All these bathrooms they get cleaned. I think on a daily basis. I want to say so you don't have to worry about anything being dirty or whatnot so and they are very nice as well.
Galaxy once he has been your experience living in the residence halls. Urine RA this year right?
Yes, yeah I am. Yeah, it's it's honestly great.
Now, what were you going to say?
I was gonna say maybe share your personal experience and then experience. Now is an RA.
So my freshman year I think I I lived in Braden an it was just very it was a sweet style so it was like Mitch said like 2 rooms sharing one bathroom and it was really great. I honestly really liked it and I felt really comfortable in the bathrooms and it was like fine.
Um and we like my sweet means that my roommate like we always like. Make sure to keep everything clean an like just kind of clean up after yourself type of thing and it was very easy to keep that communication between like three people. Now that I'm in RA it is. It's a community style so it's I have men and women on my floor but each of them have their own bathrooms with three three stalls and then like 3 shower stalls.
And it's definitely different. It's a different experience, but honestly, like you just get to see so many people and it's always like, hey, how you doing? Oh how you doing like it's crazy. How like many people actually shower at like 2:00 AM and you don't really think about it until like you're in there showering with someone like at 2:00 AM. So it's just. It's a really. It's a different experience, but I think both experiences are great and it depends on who you are and I'm honestly pretty open like pretty I just kind of go with the flow and it's just really cool like with like.
Where communities so you really get to know other people and like you're literally brushing your teeth or like watching your face and just having a conversation things like that. Whereas like sweet style you're mostly just kind of like you don't really interact with your other hallmates as far as like seeing each other in the bathroom or something. So I think it's I think it's just different. I think it depends on like what you're interested in. I was honestly, really nervous about the community style because I was like Oh my gosh, there's going to be like no time for me to get ready. Go to bathroom or anything. But everyone just kind of uses the bathroom at their own time and because everyone has a different.
Schedule there hasn't really been a problem where like there are, there are people waiting for the bathroom. It's just been like pretty empty.
As throughout the day, I don't know, it's just weird, but everyone just kind of does their own thing, and so it's like at certain times that you know people go into the bathroom.
Yeah, now that's great. I think something to also say is living in the residence halls your freshman year is such a great way to meet people and it's an awesome way to just start your community at CSU. Living with people really does bond you, so that's one of my favorite things about my freshman year. We have another question and it's.
Does the whole town get into an excited buzz whenever there's a home football game? Or is it just the college campus? Does anyone feel comfortable taking this question? If not, I can take it.
I will take it or miss you got it.
Alright Here I'll do. I'll do like part one. You can do Part 2, how's that?
OK cool yeah, like the entire town is is on fire but not really, but it's it's just. There's a frenzy going on with the football game. I mean everyone shows if you're waiting outside of canvas stadium, that's our home stadium on campus. You can see thousands of people coming from every single direction as far as you can see, and they're all wearing CSU gear. They got face paint on. They got those like twirler things that make noise.
And it is amazing there tailgating in the in the parking lots like every single person in Fort Collins, who has even a slight affiliation with CSU. Like, oh, I like the color green. Let's go to CSU football game. Like I'm not joking. That's how it is. It's amazing.
Yeah, something I'll mention to you. I'm actually a third generation ram so I have grown up going to football games in basketball games for a long time. Having our on campus stadium is definitely super fun for students, but I think it hasn't changed the whole town of Fort Collins. Obviously we're not like a super huge football school, but still like there's a lot of excitement. You can definitely tell, like the restaurants or more.
Bowl and something I always like to point out to is the University and the city of Fort Collins. Just have a really good relationship. I think sometimes you hear in college towns that it's really strained and hard and like sure there are like difficult things with like having college students and residents. But really for cons is a great place to live and people really care about the University. There's a lot of opportunities for students off campus, but for football games you can definitely see that throughout the community. People have the football games on it, restaurants, they'll have their CSU flags out, so that's kind of cool to see for sure.

Does the whole town get into an excited buzz whenever there's a home football game or is that just the college campus?
Um, let's see it. Our next question is, how far do you all travel on campus in a day?
When do you want to try to answer that?

How far do you all travel on campus in a day?
Yeah, so I will admit I feel like campus is pretty big, which is really nice 'cause there's a lot of space. I I have tried to track last year when I had five different classes on campus in today and I think I walked three point 6 miles, but I was going back and forth.
I do prefer to skateboard to class actually, so having a bike a skateboard helps, but I think.
On average, I would say maybe 2 miles, but.
I I think it just depends on classes and like how many classes a day and where they are on campus.
Yeah, I think that's a good answer. I think it kind of you're right. It depends on your classes, but I think something that kind of helps is like yes, like CSU is kind of a more spread out campus, but you can walk like side to side like end to end like 1520 minutes. So it's not like some universities where it would take you an hour to get across campus. But I think that like 3.5 miles that sounds about right. If you're really moving around. Let's see.
Um will see it looks like we don't have any other questions. If you have any, go ahead and submit them, but I want to wrap up this web and R by asking what's your favorite Fort Collins memory and will start with let's see and go down the line.
I definitely think the little water fountains in Old Town are my favorite thing to like to, just that I have like.
I would just as a child like my family would always just take snacks and like we would get like pizza or something and then we would just go and like hang out there at the little fountains and I would have fun with my Cousins and stuff and my parents just be sitting on the side. Just kind of watching talking to my uncles and aunts and so it was just like it's always like. It was always like a like. A little weekend kind of tradition in the summer because it was really hot and so we would just kind of love to just get wet and just kind of fun and it wasn't much of like.
It wasn't a lot, but it was just like something that we would do and it was just always fun and every time like I like drive by or like, I kind of walked by like I always think about those moments and how it just happy I was and it was just really fun and there's like a whole bunch of families there and so you can like meet other people and it's just really fun.
Yeah, I'd say my favorite memory is definitely probably last winter we got. I think it was maybe like 6 to 7 inches of snow within a couple hours like one night and it was. I don't know. Maybe Tuesday Wednesday night it was during the week and I looked at my friends like.
Let's go to Old Town. Let's just walk around and it was. It was about the time where they had all their Christmas lights strung up over all the lamp posts and what not. And you know, we strap our boots on big warm coats and we just walked down down to Old Town and it was. It was like being in a hallmark movie. I'm not going to lie like I was waiting for Santa just to come out of the office LED or something, but it was just. It was really cool. It was a really like weird feeling that was just very enjoyable.
And you know, we didn't. We didn't do anything. We didn't go into any shops or whatnot, we just we just walked and it was wonderful. So that's probably my favorite.
That's so wholesome. Oh my goodness. Wow David, what about you?
Yeah, my I think my favorite memory have made here so far in Fort Collins is the last weekend of every April. There's an event called the Fort Collins music experience, which is like the it's called Boko MX. It's extremely affordable I think. At the time I paid like $20 a day and in 48 hours they cram.
200 bands in like an 8 hour period, both days playing all the way from, you know the little place where you see mannequins and stuff in front of stores. They quit it off so there's just room for all these different Colorado based artists. It was. I've never seen anything like that. It was. It was really fun.
I was going to say my favorite memory was biking to Old Town to see the lights and how it look like a movie. And I was like, like like doppelganger, something that's crazy. No, it's all good. I will share another memory. That's a close second. And it was one of the days.
That are the grass outside of the student center got a lot of snow and me and my roommate. We ran in the snow to make a little happy face so people walking by the student center would see it and we were like taking pictures of it and it made me super super happy and so that's probably one of my favorite memories here in Fort Collins.
Oh, you're just so wholesome that's so sweet. I'll share mine too just because I love Fort Collins. One of my favorite memories is going to Tour de Corgi in Old Town my freshman year. So walked over an if you haven't heard about Tour de Corgi, it is one of my favorite things in Fort Collins. So a bunch of people are hanging out in Old Town. And then there's just a giant parade of corgis like hundreds of corgis dressed in costumes. It's adorable, and.
Honestly, one of my favorite for Collins traditions. I'm already counting down the days Till Tour de Corgi next year, but yeah, that's it for this web and RI want to thank our student ambassadors for being such awesome panelists. They are just amazing human beings and just thank you for your time and giving some great answers. If you have any questions about CSU know that you do have an assigned admissions counselor so you can visit the office of admissions website and you can figure out who your assigned based on your.
State if you're out of state or your high school if you're in Colorado, please continue to stay engaged with our admissions programming. We have a lot more webinars planned throughout the year, so we would love to have you sitting on those. But thank you so much for your time. Have a great rest of your day and go Rams.
