This is a weapon are about coming to see you as per student so metal is I want to be just not yet.
Alright, great and I'm good afternoon everyone. I'm having a little bit of trouble hearing so if I repeat anything that Allie said. That is why all the joys of presenting virtually in the day and age we live in now, so my name is Priscilla ugly and my pronouns are she, her, hers and I serve as a senior assistant director of inclusive recruitment on the freshman admission side.
Alright, so I'm going to go ahead and.
Delaney Brown
04:02:51 PM
Hi, South Carolina here
And my name is Allie Burger in my pronouns are also she, her, hers and I'm a transfer admissions counselor.
Alright, great, so I'm going to go ahead and kick it of- and we will jump right in here and so we're going to talk about. Today is what you see there. So we're going to talk about the transfer process, why transferring how it can be a little bit different. I'm having a hard time seeing this.
And so we're just going to go ahead and jump right in and talk about how it can be different from first year student to a transfer student. So we're going to talk about why transferring the differences in the application process and then some circumstances like some things to consider as you were considering the transfer and then talking about what it can look like when it comes to the on campus or housing components. So I'm imagining.
A lot of smiling faces, an nods and thumbs up in our virtual crowd here. So we are going to jump in and talk about why transferring there are lots of reasons why students decide to transfer. The most common one we here is to save money. That is a great reason to decide that you want to start as a transfer student, typically starting out like a two year school or school. More local to where you maybe could be a great way to save money. Whether you're an out of state student, whether you're looking at the cost of a 2 year versus of.
But that's one of the biggest reasons we here.
Maybe you just want to dip your toes in to see what it's like to see what college classes can be like, and so you just want to ease up the transition between high school and college. We also have students that maybe their grades weren't so hot in high school. Maybe they had senioritis or they something happened. There was a situation and they were able to be admitted to the college that they want to go through right away. Starting at a Community College or another school could be a great way to still continue to go to college.
Shiloh Daricek
04:05:06 PM
Love the inclusion of pronouns! That's really awesome.
Sam Lopez
04:05:06 PM
How long will this be?
And then ultimately transfer. We also have students that have significant family obligations, so maybe you are staying at home to help with.
Helping your family pay for bills. Maybe you have sibling or something that you want to connect with.
Always a good reason to stay at home would be family.
Allison Berger
04:05:37 PM
Hi Ya'll! Presentation will last approximatley 45-1 hour. we will have a student panelist coming at 4:30 for a Q and A!
And then with everything going on right now, we understand that for some students they may not feel comfortable leaving home right now. They may not feel comfortable with all this is going on and there's a lot of things to consider. And so especially right now we're getting lots of questions from students that were admitted in the fall as traditional freshman an may want to now shift their plans to start as a transfer student. So whatever your reasons are, maybe we were listed listed. Then maybe we did it.
But no problem there. Your reasons and they are valid. So we appreciate that you all are considering transferring because it doesn't mean that you can't come to CSU now. It means your path is different and everyone's path to college looks different.
So thanks, ally for answering that we have about 45 minutes to an hour set aside for today's presentation. Alright, so now that students are admitted.
There are a few things you can do, so how you can update your term? We get this question all the time where I was admitted for the fall, but now I'm not sure I want to start right away. So what we recommend is for you to update your term. This is a very similar process to students that want to do a gap here or do a deferment. And so if you log into your ram, webs in the admissions section there is a spot that says tell us your plans if you haven't confirmed yet or if you have, it's in the admission sections.
Update right there so you click on update and you can select for a future term up to a year. So if you do want to take a traditional gap year, maybe work. You can definitely do that and everything in your admissions will be pushed up to fall 2021. Now if you want to start at a Community College, you can always update your term and then on the update form indicate that you do want to plan on taking some Community College classes.
At that point we will then update your application and then when it's time for you to reactivate your application, you would just send us your transcripts and so that's something. I'm very common that students are wanting to do right now.
Ali is there anything that you would add to that?
No, I don't think so. I think you covered everything up into. If you also have any questions, you're also welcome to reach out to us about starting in either the spring or next fall. So really wanting to be flexible and support you during this time. As much as we can.
Alright, let's talk about some of the differences in the application process. Man, I'm having a real hard time seeing that this is so little. Can you see that Allie? Maybe it's just my screen?
Yes, so if you actually, uh, control plus it'll make it bigger on your screen.
So in the application process for freshman application.
Alright, appear with me one moment.
We're going to get this down y'all. There's only the beginning of the week. We have lots more webinars happening later.
And so we're going to get this down password for whatever webinars at the end of the week is going to be seamless. No issues, no technical difficulties. Rainbows and birds are going to be singing in the background. It's going to be beautiful.
That we are the first one at, so I think so.
Yes, yeah, it's going to be good.
OK, so while that pulls up Allie, you want to talk about the specifics for transfer applications.
Transfer students, um, have a little bit of a different review process then freshman Apple.
So first of all, transfer students are not required to submit, ask for it and so you know that a lot of us, including myself are not the best test takers. And so one of the benefits of looking at the transfer path is that you're not required to simply test for test scores, if that you. Additionally, once you complete around 24 to 30 credits, we no longer use your high school grades of the primary academic record. So once you complete about Masters full time.
We're going to be basing our applicator. Our admissions decision on your college grades. Additionally, letters of recommendation and personal statements are optional, not required and so.
Really, the transfer application is geared to be.
A little bit smoother. We know that you've been in college already. You kind of know the process around applying and if you're doing well in college right now.
There are also some differences with timeline. So for us starting in the fall or early action is February 1st. To have submitted your application and all your support document. But really the full are ideal. Date is June 1st. Yeah we work with students throughout the spring, so if you haven't decided yet.
We definitely have some flexibility and we want to try and help you get here. If it's possible. Spring start is November 1st, so if there are folks that are here today that are delayed starting in all because of the COVID-19 pandemic, then bring start date is November 1st. That's a good one to keep your mind and then summer start date is March 1st and the other thing that's important to note with all these gates is that they are flexible so.
You're not like deadline? Uhm, it's a guidance. Cape Ann. Work super willing to work with students on space available basis after these days.
So as far as what we need for the application, we need the application itself.
Final high school transcript ordered.
Will require even if you have 2400 edit the federal requirement.
Uh, we also did missions requirement in mathematics. We met variety of ways.
What map Aiken high school have you taken the transferable knowledge? And if neither of those things happens with your math period?
In a differently with application fiori.
RL friends who have anything. If you.
The waiver is actually right now so.
And I think we're moving onto financial consideration, so I'm not.
About about the first year freshman scholarships, 'cause there are differences between the receiver.
So definitely think about actually.
Alright, so I'm still having a little bit of trouble hearing.
Sounds like we're going to go over the differences in the application process for the freshman, so we will need your transcripts. You want some test scores on their the deadlines for that is December 1st for new students, and then we will accept regular decisiones ownership through February 1st of your senior year. Although right now we are accepting applications still and we know that like I said, what's happening right now is changing a lot of people's plans, and so we are still taking applications for both transfer students.
Alright, now let's talk about some of the financial consideration. So for first year students, if students have applied and that admitted to CSU as a first time student as a freshman, and you did receive some merit scholarships, the green and gold scholarships for Colorado students that you see there. The Presidents, Provost and Dean scholarships for out-of-state students and ara for nonresident students. Academic recognition, word, those are all merit based, and those are.
Only for freshman students. So if you do decide to update your application term.
Thanks for so I I'm not so.
Yes, I'm sure. Well, uhm.
So as far as being scholarship, so we do have a couple again. Priscilla mentioned this earlier but it is important to consider.
Dollar ship first year freshman because it's likely that carryover in requirements transfer scholarships or just based off of your college work. So if you're just doing this
that's also something to consider.
Our Society for folks who are starting out of College in order to become a member of.
We are invited. Once you receive 3.5 day like 1215 college.
Um, and once you get invited to join.
And I know it sounds like you're already or.
And take classes during this gap here or during this upcoming fall or spring. It does then shift your status to be a transfer student and you do miss out on those scholarships. So that's something that we want to be very, very clear with. While we do want to be flexible and work with students who have applied and been admitted as freshmen and then want to change their plans, we can definitely work with you. But a financial consideration that we definitely want to consider is whether or not you may lose your scholarship. So those are the freshmen are ships that we offer.
Those that you do get as freshmen are renewable every year, or if you defer and don't take classes during that gap here and just come in as a freshman. But a year later you're still eligible to get those scholarships.
Mr being exploited college and so in order to be considered for that scholarship, it's important to know that you might plan on.
Alright, so Ali do you wanna take it over for transfer scholarships?
Similarly for ram, transferrin for Willie, there's a minimum of 30 hottest. In order to receive those. So for ram transfer we need a minimum of 35, and then a minimum of 3.0 GPA. However, ram transfers is a little more competitive or typically.
Will we also is different and I will pass after Priscilla. If you had to talk about Willie.
Let me just double check here. I need the sound struggle it a little bit.
OK, I'm gonna go ahead and just take.
So what will we first you? There is a trick on the financial aid work if you visit this link that you'll see a matrix that kind of Pierre requirement is password.
Really big difference with transfer students and as I ordered the work you need to receive 3.0.
Any of my students that are in the.
If you're planning on transfer.
colour and honest or ship. Yes, translation can also.

Does the Honors scholarship carry over for freshman who defer?

what is the final day to change an intended term start in Ram Web? Also- it doesn't appear that the change in start term is not automatic and up for approval- are there circumstances when a change in term start is declined?
But if you're looking at all, I would recommend.
I'm gonna go ahead and shower.
And also through my email.
Most frequently asked questions.
So first question is required.

Any time anybody about any of this?
Russian around it from past and how they an I believe that in order to put into houses have to be an emotional support so.
The house or into the housing him.
in this life too, and often display.
Credit Additionally, we also have University apartments and regular apartments with a regular security Department only, but there.
They're also so there really campus, all other.
And so really good place for the transmission input on campus life basically.
The other thing too is that we also have transfer community and four of.
Yes, you can. Also on our community.
That quickly here you dance or moving it moving on.
And they have some really fantastic resources on their website, far as.
Finding apartments in finding so they have.
Search on the Web site which is really looking for.
And what I love about rental search.
You know that you're going to be interacting with the community.
Who are looking in the apartment so basically in French eat or they layout?
Car and the Security Department is an Laird, and they also have full length or you can.
And to Have you ever had questions about living on campus?
Alright, I'm going to pause here.
The first time, going to hear that.
Is how we were going to talk a little bit.
Business, computer science, engineering and realism.

04:26:17 PM
Hi Allie I just hopped on! Your audio is still cutting out for some reason!
So all of these leaders Opossum additional requirements that bill before here. If you want to.
Now, if you're only firm college that come here.
Undeclared Oriental Translator. An eventual. So it's not like you.
Can't get in forever, it is important.
They have GPA requirement, course requirements and so other. Usually I recommend.
So for example businesses.
I know minimum college credit.
Calculus and I will take a calculus.
People are worried when I think.
We can find transferable courses that will be at that you attend.
How about later? Next is far as moon. Should I confirm it? Really kind of depends on what works best for you and for your overall.
It's really great for you are trying to talk up their time and call it for students. Really enjoyed the Community College experience we are doing well. Leading associates really good. First step for a long list.
So this is really student who.
For students who are obvious intelligence.
Who do you associate degree out of Colorado college point out guaranteed?
I'm just saying that that is to help.
Ken is except month 64 from community colleges.
If you have more or credit your best and most applicable 64, so take the most.
And it's really important to check in with the transmission popular if you're very busy.
That basically means that you're not even as many.
for they have rigid about in students.
Transfer so we recommend.
Requirements and then that's it. Come on.
So I looked examples here. This isn't and so it's.
A good check in, see if we have how many.
hum how they used for institutions outside Colorado were also.
Or curriculum which is general admission requirements and is the number one thing I recommend. We start with. So if you are acting college, we do have articulated state of Colorado and all the city colleges.
Green requirements, and so these are start.
And I will always be here for where you find them.
One just feel free to reach out and everything on the website, right?
Picture of one. So this is a picture of a transfer, diet or exercise science. A concentration in health promotion and so you can kind of see here that they layout exactly what classes you're gonna wanna take so things like English composition, public speaking, college algebra. They tell you what class you want to take, a Community College and how it could transfer you and which general education requirements.
These are fantastic if we can find one for you and they make their really smooth and easy transition for students and so that's kind of my little can't transfer guide. Love. I wish everything had a train.
We also called Transfer Aladji.
On line training for over 800 pounds and includes all the colleges, Colorado internal Rang and it can also help us to plan out college courses and see how.
So basically you transfer all of the of the place free website input or.
Put in certain classes that you're interested in.
However, it does have a trip, so not all schools.
But we have a way that we can individually evaluate courses with our registrar's office. And if you've already taken a lot of work.
So one of the most important things we can.
Basically, every semester that you asked me how much to help, make sure that you're working. Classes that argument so degree requirements. Here I work with all the way through their community.
We just helping you out with uh oh.
Cj Buchmann
04:34:44 PM
Could you later show the slide again with the transfer guide websites.
For the slide with the website, I will pull up.
Hum, or you just know that the object he says the higher end plate transfer guide.
Colorado and then there are ones on our website.
I am going to through past transfer ologie to talk a little bit about general education requirements. So requirements at CSU are called the University or curriculum.
So we use a lot of here. So so you know, this is basically in general.
And the general environments are just like you would expect things like.
And other things that I like always with the person or problem. There are a lot of that have.
They kind of doubled with the general.
so I guess what I got is.
Or engineering for example.
So if you took I took a class.
Thank you for my time and that would not apply.
Not yet transcribed, checking
in general, I requirements for taking out after we.
I'm not mad, I feel like I always make that obvious example.
I I don't know chemistry.
Little brief overviews picking out classes one through major.
We're gonna talk a little bit about.
College, but I do. Also, I personally want the stuff I'm looking at them.
I'd help you, so I'm gonna go ahead.
Restart the trio program and I'm also.
Sam Lopez
04:38:56 PM
I can you stay for an hour is there a way review what I missed?
We do like they are depressed. I gotta couple colleges that has some really strong trail.
The other books are listed on the slide is in that earlier, but I'm kinda capital Honor Society with.
Is there really fantastic?
Answer questions about the processing.
Again, we love our partners as well, so.
Community College chapter.
So I'm also gonna probably little bit about how to connect.
And then during the next slide I'm also going to put my email in so.
So obviously we're all working.
Situation during transport within spur couple of years now.
She's service Denver Metro area in college is an whole like coffee chat appointment.
We also have a Calculator or exclusively with our product Range Community College.
And then there is no I. I also primarily work.
Holidays in College in Colorado and hold appointment so there's a good chance that this coming fall.
There are one appointment for.
We also have our panelists. Here are ways I see her in.
On this early I will go ahead and let her introduce.
Perfect thank you Alli and Priscilla um hi everyone my name is Arlene my pronouns she, her and hers I am will be senior at Yahoo starting journalism with a minor information plans to Technology. I transferred to CSU halfway through my freshman year. I originally started out at a school in Arizona called Northern Arizona University and I'm originally from Littleton, Co. So I'm pretty low, but I decided transfer back.
Halfway through my freshman year, so I have both on campus living experience off campus, finding housing and apartments on the kind of stuff as well as transitioning halfway through the year and as well as the out-of-state experience. An instant experience too.

04:46:25 PM
And my email is Allie.Berger@colostate.edu
Let's see here. So not entirely sure how we're going to do this. I think we're just going to leave it open to the chat. If everyone has questions, let's see here.
Talk a little bit about your brand.
Al, can you say that again, you cut out a little bit?
Sorry, could you talk a little bit about your experience in the residential?
Yeah, of course. So when I transferred to this new I am started out in spring of 2018. So about two years ago and I transferred to a dorm called Parmalee Hall and um, it was specifically designed for. Well, my floor wasn't for transfer students, but I was put into the nicer dorms called year too. It's warm and it was a lofted. Ellen keep in mind for transfer students they give you the nicer dorms. They call them apartment style dorm.
We're basically you still have the sweet experience you share a bathroom with your suite mates, but in the form you have a heating and air conditioning unit, bigger closet and updated vanity, vaulted ceilings, higher beds, and updated bathroom. You're on the top floor and it's just an architecture dorm than what you would see in like a typical freshman dormitory. So while I was in there, I lived with my roommate and we got along great and she was not a transfer student, but she actually deferred.
It's a master, so she kind of that experience. If you know I kind of figuring out what she wanted to do, and then my neighbors down the Hall were also transfer students and they were awesome. They were very very sweet so it is great to kind of just live there and know that you know you can just walk in and say hi to people and meet people from all different kinds of schools, all different walks of life. But I definitely think that living on canvas in a transform was a great experience for me. And then that fall I moved into my first apartment.
Any other parking for early?
I'll get everybody in my family.
And we're done with this virtual webinars. They're kind of cool.
Oh gosh, so well evidence yes. you and I do have a couple of questions I'll get to in a second uhm, so I've been. Excuse you, I have, um, will currently. I'm actually working at the transformations job. I've been here since the spring of 2019 and I absolutely love it up. And then I also. I'm also in a multimedia intern for the College of Health and Human Sciences, so if anyone is looking to pursue social work, education, health, exercise, science, human development.
Uh Oh my gosh, I'm blanking on all the majors, so just in that area I help write stories for their PR office as well. Produced videos and social media content, and I'm also an editor for the student LED Magazine, College Ave.
Yeah, a lot of my plate, but uhm, let me hear so some of the questions. Are you OK if I go ahead and answer some of these questions?
Perfect, so let's see here. I have a question. I'm planning to transfer my third year. How did the workload compare? Moving from a Community College to University? So I actually did not start out of Community College, but I have taken classes at community colleges over the summer to get some of my generals out-of-the-way. An ice is pretty similar in. Obviously I can't speak for everyone. I can't say you know what everyone's experiences. I do know.
Um, a little bit about that kind of like a third party stance. My significant other is actually at a Community College right now and he is completing some of his coursework and it's very similar. Very similar schedules. We do homework together. He has the same workload as I do, so I wouldn't say it's either easier or harder. I would just say, depending on what you're taking, you know it could be very loud based. It could be very outdoor based if you want to go into something with wildlife.
It could be very expensive. You wanna go into English or another type of Liberal art so that pretty much it all depends on what you want to study. But I would definitely say that they are very very similar. I would say two at universities. You are a little bit more on your own and you are expected to, you know, go search for your extra help on your own. But I mean at CSU we have what's called our our help building. They offer free tutoring.
We all students on and that can include bio chemistry, calculus, physics, all that kind of stuff as well as professors, office hours. All professors at CSU or required tab office hours and they are more than happy to sit down with you even after their office hours and talk about what you may be struggling with. So I definitely would say that it may be do feel a little bit more independent, but there's. There's a lot of resources, Dale.
Uhm, the next question is what's the best anar classes at Community College to work for the major? We want to have at CSU. OK, actually like this one. 'cause it involves planning. But what I always tell students when their so Community College is. I always tell them. Check out course catalogs on Csus website and select the major you want. So for me I would select journalism, the media communications and I would see you now. OK, I'm required.
Take up my gosh, why did I take? I took media in society 100. I had to take up some of my general education courses like psychology. It took that I took a statistics class for my major. I also took a lab a science class. So definitely check out the CSU catalog and that has every major and minor completion pathway. And In addition to that I would also check out transferaladji.com and no alley and Priscilla talked a lot about that, but it's a great online tool. I used that.
Gabriella Vieira
04:54:27 PM
Whats the best way to plan our classes at community college to work for the major we want to have at CSU?
Or transferring to CSU do how my classes would transfer um and that will kind of help you navigate, which is enrolling at your Community College and then help prepare you to complete your degree at CSU.
Marco Ayala
04:54:28 PM
I'm planning to transfer my third year. How did the workload compare moving from a community college to university?
And if you need any help, we can also reach out to a transformation counselor and we can help you with that.
Oh absolutely, we all are familiar with transfer Aladji and helping you make your UM, four or or your answer for your completion Maps. So if you do have any questions about black, feel free emails will be more that.
No, no US one should use local orientation, even if you're still deciding what to do, um.
This is a really good question, so I'm guessing that this is already there.
If you are still planning on coming in the fall, he had attention. Word boring turn this summer. And if you decide I don't want all I wanted time, we can still hang out here only requirement.
or also that we could not.
If you're looking at your pretty sure you're gonna win.
I will kind of undecided.
You have a better process. I mean everyone.
And but earlier is better. I would say about going to heaven.
Where are we still hang on?

Sorry for the inconvenience but I really have to go can you email me the thing that I missed?
I'm from New Hampshire. Planning on going to my local Community College for my first year. Is the transfer process different than if I was calling from Colorado Community College?
For this I would say, uhm, well, I guess it depends on, uhm, you know. Well, it's actually kind of. This is really good question honestly.
Process to transfer over all is not different. It's a little harder to plan out your courses, but we can still do it.
And one thing that I'm not sure if I mentioned earlier there is something called a tentative transfer evaluation. So what that is is you submit your unofficial transcripts from your college. Let's say you didn't find them on transfer all G, but you want to still make sure you know your credits transferred before you make any decisions on attending CSU. You submit your unofficial transcripts through our registrar's office.
And then they will go ahead and review um all your classes, course by course. And they basically say this math class transfers and transfers as I don't know math 141 is business calculus or you know this astronomy class? You know 300 level starting class does not, so that's kind of what that does. It does take a little bit more time. It takes about two to four weeks to complete. That is free, and it does give you a kind of better idea if for some reason you don't see your University on transfer aladji.
Absolutely cracked, we can have our revenue faster horses. The only the key thing is they want to keep fighting in mind. I don't wait a minute to try and get your forces violated.

Oh, that's a great question. Uhm, I when I was at my past institution, I just didn't feel like I was connected to a community. You know, I was gonna. I was trying to get involved in the future and Tom clubs and organizations. Uhm, you know, I was doing well in all of my classes. I was working at the time on that campus as well. I wanted student works a job.
Uhm, but I just didn't feel like I was connecting with the University in general and they, uh, miss talking to some people I knew from CSU. I would always ask him. I was like Are you happy with the school you're going to and every single one of them would tell me everyone here is so nice that are so welcoming. There's so many things to do or campus is gorgeous. Our faculty and staff are so welcoming and so willing to help you and I said, OK, maybe I'll get a try. It's about an hour, an hour and a half away from.
My hometown, so it's far enough away, but not too far, so I decided to give it a go and see if CSC was the right fit for me. And here I am. Two years later. I haven't looked back so that's the reason why I decided transfer and it probably was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Oh, I was just gonna say to everyone sitting in this webinar who may not be entirely sure about what they want, where they want to go, or what they want to study. I was right there with you. I mean, I thought I was gonna go off to another State College and, you know, go down and I'm completely different field. I was getting a bachelors of Science and then halfway through I was like that's not what I want to do and I changed majors, probably two or three times by the time I finally ended on what I wanted to do so.
Go with your gut. Go with your heart and whatever you decide to make sure that it's what you want and what you're comfortable with.
Yeah, and I think also I'd like to say to that my office.
