Hello everyone! Very excited for you to join me. My name is Katy and I work in Transfer Admissions at CSU! I want to share a link to a resource we'll be using together today: https://catalog.colostate.edu/general-catalog/
We're going to get started here in just a bit. I'm going to let everybody have a chance to log in. I'm going to enter something into the chat so you can all see our chat function.
And then I'll do an introduction here in just a minute and will go ahead and get started. Look at people just a little while longer to get logged in.
So my name is Katie. I work in transfer admissions here at CSU.
So we are going to be jumping into my decoding. Your transfer credit web and are here in just a moment. Like I said, we're going to give people a few minutes to get themselves logged in. One thing that I did enter into the chat box was a link to a resource that we're going to be using together during our web in our presentation, so I'm hoping that we'll be able to do is. If you're on a computer today, will be able to do some interactive things together so you'll be able to walk through your own account as I'm going through.
Some of these tools, so if you're able to log into your ram web student account now would be a good time. We got a little moment to do that. You can go ahead and log into your Ram Web.
Otherwise, I do want to quickly mention there is a chat feature so you'll be able to enter in questions as we go along, and I will do my best to answer them.
OK, let's go ahead and get started, so I'll do a quick repeat here. So my name is Katie. I work in transfer admission at CSU. I do want to quickly clarify that I am not an academic advisor. So what I am going to be doing today is showing you some tools that you are going to use with your advisor. I'm going to allow you to kind of do a little bit of exploration and hopefully develop some questions for your advisor, but also get an understanding of the resources you're going to be using while you're a student here at CSU.
OK, so let's go ahead and get started.
So these are going to be the three topics that we're going to cover in our webinar today. One is your official transfer credit evaluation.
The other is a degree progress audit.
And then the third will end on a brief reminder about sending in final college transcripts.
So like I mentioned before, when the tools that I'm going to be walking through are going to be images that you can follow along in your own ram web so you can actually walk through these things together and learn how to find them in your own account real time so you can look at your own information as we go along. Now if you aren't on a computer or you don't have the ability to log into ram web, that's OK. I've got screenshots of what I'm going to be sharing with you all, and then when we're done today. I'm also going to include my contact information.
So if you want to set up a one on one appointment with me or someone in transfer admissions, we can do this with you individually as well.
OK, so really quick before we hop on I see that one question came along.
Sounds like there was a question about as soon be an accepted but decided to do some credits. Versita Community College. Will she lose her scholarship? So that really is going to be a question that is going to be dependent on when your student takes college credit and when they plan to start at CSU. So for that question specifically, let's go ahead. I'm going to get when I give you my contact information at the end. Let's set up a time to connect to go over the specifics because again it's going to all depend on.
When the student is going to take credit and when they're going to start OK, it looks like 2021. So if you're planning to do that, then typically what we're seeing right now is if the student. If you are going to do.
Courses at a Community College and then attend CSU in 2021 fall 2021. At that point and the student if they're taking Community College credits. Let's say next fall in Next Spring. At that point, the student would be considered a transfer student and from my understanding at that point would be eligible for transfer students scholarships.
And may not be eligible any longer for first year freshman scholarships if they're receiving specific ones through CSU. But again, let's connect on it that at the end, and so that you and I can set up a time to chat a bit more so we can go through some of those specifics together.
OK, so if everybody is logged into your ram web, then let's go ahead an proceed through what we're going to be covering today.
So if you're in your ram web, you're going to notice this splash page, which is going to be our home page of your Ram Web.
This is going to be a main menu where you probably already done a lot of things. Getting started as a CSU student where we're going to go today is going to be your menu, which is in the upper right hand corner of your home page when you click on that menu, you're going to see a bar pop out with some options. You're then going to click on the one that says academic planning and progress, so go ahead and do that now.
Once you're there, you're going to be taken to this page. That's going to have a lot of different resources. The first though we're going to touch on is your official transfer credit evaluation. So where it's I've circled it. That little pink circle where it says transfer credit. That's what we're going to click on 1st.
So this is going to show you an official transfer credit evaluation of all college credit that we have on file for you currently. So anything that you had completed that you had sent to CSU are register, went through and.
Processed all of those credits and are going to show you how they are officially going to transfer to CSU.
Now I highlighted 2 examples that are listed in here, so some of your credits you may be looking at may have a direct equivalency. So for example in this student account, a comp 1:30 socio 1:30 is a direct equivalency that their course came over and satisfied at CSU.
The other highlighted one I have is an example here says BU S2 Plus Plus.
Typically a tool like a plus plus at the end is going to mean that that credit could come over to CSU as elective credit, but I add a little caveat onto that because let's say you are a student. You took a history class at a Colorado Community College and it was a GT pathways history class. If you're looking at your full list here, you may come over and H IST Plus Plus, but since it's a GT pathways class, it's going to be guaranteed to.
It into a history category of a degree. So that's again where I put like a little caveat on it. Sometimes those elective credits it would be if you were going to plan to use it for something else in that example besides history. OK, so from here.
We are now going to have you click on the back button.
The back button most likely is going to take you all the way back to your home page, which means we're going to have to go to the upper right hand corner. Click on menu.
Click on academic planning and progress again. You're going to get to that this main menu again.
So I'll give you a few seconds to navigate back there.
So once you're back on your academic planning and progress page, we are now going to click on what's called your degree progress audit, so degree progress audit is going to be an opportunity where we're going to see all of those transfer credits. You just. We just looked at and how they're going to fit into your major of interest. So it's going to be a road map for you to see how your credits are going to come over, and then what credits we're going to have left to complete.
So for this part of the presentation, go ahead and click on the degree progress audit icon.
When you click on it, you're going to get to a page that's going to look like this. We are then going to have you have you click on the request audit button, which is going to be that green button.
From here, it's going to take you to this space. It may look like this where you're going to see something that right here that says, like, run your declared with programs or select a different program. We're going to do for this. First part is run your declared programs, so running your declared programs just means we're going to run your college credits against the major that you currently have listed as your major, so that could be undeclared that could be.
A specific major like business so it could look a little different for each of you, depending on what your current major is listed in your CSU account.
So we're going to go ahead and click on run declared programs.
You make it to this page eventually. Usually the wheels will turn. It's going to take a few minutes to kind of do this process. It may pop you right into your degree audit, or it may take you to this page, which is why I wanted to pause here really quickly in case you're able to see this. Sometimes with new audits we may not see this one right away, but I want to kind of give you a quick caveat that we are going to be looking at again your credits that are in your current major. So for students like this student right here.
The students program is currently undeclared so undeclared, really.
Technically isn't it doesn't have like a major map. It's not going to have a bunch of classes for you to take because oftentimes you're taking things to explore and kind of figure out which direction you're going to go, so will kind of touch on that in a second. But we're going to do later on down the road. We're going to run your classes against other majors, and then we're also going to going to show you how to run your.
Horses against a degree. Audit that if let's say you're admitted into business, sometimes it may not run your classes against your concentration of interest, so again, we're going to do that further down the line, but for right now we're going to run them against your declared program, so when you click on it, you should then see something that looks like this. It's going to have a graph at the top. It's going to tell you roughly how far you have to go in your program, so it's a nice colorful category. Here. It will usually give you a program code at the top that's going to tell you which.
You're looking at again. It's kind of tricky code to kind of decipher, but for right now, again, it's going to be the program that you have listed in your currency as you account.
If you were to Scroll down the page, you're going to start to see things that look like this. These green check marks typically main you met a requirement redexes mean that you have more to complete.
One thing that I'll touch on is what does a UCC mean? So AUC see is all University core curriculum? You can kind of, in a way. Think of them as what we used to call like general education classes. These typically are categories that.
Multiple degrees will pull classes from these categories, so every category is going to be represented in the degree somehow, so things like Sciences. Each student is going to need to take some sort of science going to need to take writing, so there's that. Those are some examples. There were going to break down a little bit more about what all University core curriculum means and how it applies to your major as well.
And if you were to keep scrolling and you were to go all the way to the very bottom of your page, this is going to be that full list of all your transfer credits. So remember, earlier when we looked at your official transfer credit evaluation, this is going to be a spot that you can see all of those credits loaded as well, so you can see a full list at the very bottom of all those options. So that's just kind of the touch a little bit on that.
OK, so we're gonna hop in and use a another tool really quickly that I like to pair.
With looking at a degree audit because for me I feel like visually it helps to make things make a little bit more sense. 'cause degree audits can have a lot of information in them and for me the way that my brain works I like to use these tools together. Some of you may find that the degree audits just what you need and that's totally fine, but I want to make sure that you've got this as a resource as well.
So what we're going to look at is we're going to actually look at the CSU catalog as well, so these are called your major completion Maps included in the link in our chat. So if you want to click on that, it'll take you directly to the catalog, but we're going to go ahead and visit that, and I'm going to actually show you in real time.
What that is going to look like as well? So let me do a quick share screen and I will show you.
Just so we can get an idea of how to find where your major is in the catalog.
OK, so you're probably on this page. This is the CSU catalog, where we're going to go from. Here is we're going to click on college and colleges and programs.
So each of our majors falls under a different college within the University. So basically think of it as a way of us dividing up the majors under different categories. So, for example, if I was an art major, that's going to fall under the College of liberal arts, and you'll see the full list of majors here. If you're not sure which college or major falls under, you cannot put it in the chat. If you want, and I'm happy to answer that. And sorry for the multi view there, and I would be happy to help you kind of navigate that.
But I just want to show you where we're going to find it and then.
Let's say for example your says business. You would then click on the concentration that interests you the most, and you're going to see a full list of all of the classes you click on requirements that are going to be required for your major. So all of them are listed in these nice kind of specific lists with all of these different categories before I hop over to see if anybody needs help finding your major in the catalog, I just want to show you this first since it does that wonky share screen.
When I'm not in it, so you'll see here. This is just an example, so we're going to use this as a tool, so find your major click on whichever one it is and will have that pulled up for the next part that we're going to do here.
So let me know if anybody needs help finding your major completion app.
OK, anthropology great question. Anthropology is actually going to fit under the College of liberal arts, so if you click on the College of liberal arts, you'll then see anthropology listed at the top.
OK, natural resource management. So natural resource management falls under the Warner College of Natural Resources. So if you were looking at that list of college and programs, it would be under Warner College of Natural Resources.
Anybody else need help finding there's?
Can you pop over and I'll see if I can find.
OK, so it should be let me. I'll enter in chat for you. How about battles and do the direct link. I think if you're looking for Natural Resources Management this should be it.
Let me enter that into the chat straight there for you about that.
Katy Wicks
04:16:29 PM
Natural resource management: https://catalog.colostate.edu/general-catalog/colleges/natural-resources/forest-rangeland-stewardship/natural-resources-management-major/
OK, try that link. So if they get you to where we need to go.
OK, so that again is just a tool. This is a tool that we are going to use as we're going along here.
Welcome I. So I'm going to pull up a screenshot again because my screen gets a little bit wonky. I'm going to pull up a screenshot of the example that I was using before so business this is an example. Again, going to show you all the courses that you're going to need in order to complete your degree. Now the reason that I pulled this up part of the reason is that I'm going to show you an example of side-by-side here of when we were talking about all University core curriculum earlier. How it can be a little bit different degree, 2 degree?
So on the left side of my screen you're going to see the. I have a snapshot of the business program, so you're going to notice for the business degree it's like hey, take anything within the biological and Physical Sciences. As long as it's in this category and it meets the parameters, that's going to be good. That's going to satisfy the requirement, but if we hop over to the screenshot I have on the right, that's for the biology degree. At CSU, you're going to notice it doesn't have that general category for the biological and physical Sciences, because.
It's a really science heavy degree, so they want you to take very specific science classes in order to satisfy that degree, so that's kind of where it can be a little bit different dependent on your major.
OK, so again, this is a helpful tool that you can use side by side when you're comparing against your major. So again, if you're looking in your leg, hey, it looks like my degree audit has says I've met my all University core curriculum for biological and Physical Sciences. You can hop over and look at your major completion map in the catalog and say Oh actually yeah, that will satisfy or hey oh I do need some really specific science class is actually in order to satisfy science for my major.
OK, so that is just another tool to kind of help us as we go along.
So what we're going to do now is going to help you run what's called a new audit or a what if degree audit. So if you're on your current degree audit page, so you've got that up, the one that had the graph on it had all of those courses with the green check marks in the red X is.
At the very top of the page, there's a spot that says audit, so you're going to go ahead and click on audits and it's going to drop down a little menu and you're going to click on request knew.
Once you've done that, it's going to take you back to this page, which might look a little familiar from before, but what we're going to do now instead is you're going to click on select a different program, and that's going to drop down this menu that you're seeing here. You're going to select for the school undergraduate college. You'll select the college, so again, we looked at in the catalog, so my that one student we were helping you look for natural resource management. You would select Warner College of Natural Resources.
And then your specific major.
Leave it as Bachelor of Science for the degree and then program is where you're going to really see some options. If your degree has multiple concentrations. So for example, business has a variety of concentrations for you to choose from, so this is where you could then see, hey, how are my class is going to really fit against this specific concentration I'm interested in.
So once you've clicked all of those options, it's going to actually kind of run you to the next page so I didn't select.
There is anything under programs as my example, but it should look something like this. Once you selected all your options.
We're not going to click on this for right now, but I highlighted in yellow on the right the clear selections, because if you, let's say or a student you're like, yeah, I'm interested in like 3 different things. How do my courses compare against my these different majors? You'll have to clear the selection to run new audits in the future, so I just wanted to kind of highlight that really quick.
But if you got all your options selected here, let's go ahead and click on run different programs, which is going to be the green button at the bottom.
And that should then take you to your new audit. So this is going to be what's called your what if degree audit and you're going to always be able to tell it to. What if because you're going to see on the screenshot here it's.
Almost directly below the green and red graph, it'll say kind of in italicized black lettering. This is a what if on it, so it will tell you that this is a. What if it's not changing anything in your account so you don't have to stress about running these? It's not going to change anything on the back end or mess up anything that you currently have, so this is just again a way for you to experiment and see how your classes are going to fit.
So if you are a student who, let's say you weren't undeclared student, or maybe you are student where your major didn't show your concentration, you might see a lot more stuff in here. Now, if you were to Scroll down, this is again an example. I'm using business.
As an example, you're going to see it's going to start telling you a bunch of core requirements, so that's going to be really specific business classes that are going to be part of your program.
What does a yeah great question? What does AUC mean? AUCC means all University core curriculum, yeah, and so those are going to be a lot of core classes that are degrees will pull classes from.
OK, so let's say if we think certain classes taken at another institution should count towards certain requirements and they're not showing up that way, how do we appeal? Ha? Excellent question. So if you had some classes that you're like, yeah my, not my official transfer credit evaluation back. I'm not really sure I feel like these might be able to account for certain categories in there. Not generally I recommend starting with your academic advisor first, so they'll usually be your first point of contact. You can reach out to them and they can walk you through the process of.
What might be needed? They may be able to help you right there, or they may want to see some additional information like syllabus is from that class. It will kind of depend so I always recommend start with your academic advisor 1st and they can help guide you through the process to make sure that it's a seamless as possible for you to go through that.
OK, so that is pretty much the degree audit process. I know it's a lot to Wade through. It can be kind of tricky to read, so again, I want to just say that we're here is a resource for you if you want help going through your individual audit. If you're like, yeah, this was helpful. I have, I can see it. But now I've got some specific questions about how my stuff fits and what this technically means.
A we're here to help you so I can do a screen share with students through an appointment. So if you want to set up a phone appointment, we can do individual appointments and I can actually go in and I can do basically mimic your account and we can look at your stuff together. I can send you a link so you can see my computer screen. So yeah, we can dive into a lot more specifics for you on your own personal account, and I'll include information later on how you can make an appointment with me too.
OK, so that is just a brief overview of the degree audit. I want to mention that.
As in coming in new students.
You're going to get access to course registration through orientation, so orientation is really important. You want to make sure to get signed up for a schedule, date, orientation. That's how you're going to then get connected with your academic advisors. So academic advisors. They're going to help you to look at all of these things together. Help you pick your fault course schedule and navigate some of those important pieces to understanding how much further you might have in your degree at CSU. They can get into a lot more specifics.
And Lastly, I just want to mention if you're a student that is taking spring 2020 courses. Once those grades have been posted, you want to be sure to remember to send an updated official transcript to CSU. Again, you want to wait. Make sure those grades have been posted on your transcript first before you request it. That way we can get your spring grades sent over to CSU and then our registrar can start to process those spring grades and get you an evaluation for those two.
All right, and that is actually it. That is the quick, brief overview. Quick and brief overview of finding your official transfer credit and doing your degree audit. So before we kind of hop off for today, you're welcome to send in your questions to me, and I'm also going to include some helpful links. My direct contact email and then also, if you want to make an appointment with the transfer office 2.
OK, so you say who should we send our transcripts to? Your registrar or admissions?
Really, oftentimes most colleges, if you have the option to select oftentimes the electronic transcript ordering system, they little just let you select CSU an it should send it to CSU. So we should receive it. But if they want a specific email on where to have those sent, you can have them sent to the registrar or you can have them sent us to let me actually see if I can find.
I will include the email address just in case you are institution meets it. It isn't me. Transcript email.
Katy Wicks
04:26:56 PM
If your college need it, they can have electronic transcripts sent: etranscripts@colostate.edu
Like I said, most ordering systems will just allow you to select CSU and they'll know exactly where to send it to us, but just in case, I'll include that here in the chat box.
OK, if we would do an audit with a second major with the graphs double or stay the same with what we need to complete hours wise, who good question.
You know, I haven't run too many double audits. Uhm, I would say just so I don't mislead you on that all include my email address. If you want to follow up with me on that, we can actually go through that together. I'm not 100% sure actually, how about full graph? It's going to include a breakdown for both majors or the combined. It's actually really great question, so let's chat with each other on that later an I will actually include a link to that my email address right now so that you have that bullets send me an email and let's let's explore that together.
Katy Wicks
04:27:51 PM
Katy Wicks: katy.wicks@colostate.edu
OK, put my email address in there.
OK, so this is a good question, so if you are a freshman applicant and you were like hey I earned dual credit while I was in high school, how are those going to show up or when do they show up? So the important thing is is you want to reach out to your college which you received those credits through to make sure an official transcript from that college is sent to CSU 'cause we can't pull those college courses off your high school transcript. So you actually need to have the college that you earned those credits through. Send us your official transcript.
Then once those have been received, they'll be evaluated just like other transfer credits will be.
OK, how can transfer aladji help you through the process? OK, so transfer aladji is a really helpful tool. If let's say you are an interested student but you haven't applied yet. So you're like, hey, I kind of want to know how my credits are going to come over. Or maybe let's say you're thinking of taking summer classes before starting at CSU in the fall transfer aladji can be really helpful tool 'cause it can allow you to look up course equivalencies. So it's going to have a really similar field to your degree audit in the sense that you can.
Also run any of your classes that you input into transfer Aladji and run them against Yes you majors. But yeah, transfer aladji is just another tool. Once you're all of your credits have been sent to CSU and they've been officially evaluated. Unless you're not planning to take any other classes and another college that official evaluation is going to be the most accurate picture of how your transfer credits will come over the every question transfer allergy. Good to use if you want to look ahead and take some other classes at your current college.
That can be really helpful guide.
OK, my transcript doesn't get evaluated before my registration date. Can I still register for classes? OK, So what I would suggest is that let's say.
Uhm, you are a student who's gonna start in the fall and you have signed up for orientation and you are like hey, I'm taking summer classes at my Community College this summer. Before I start at CSU in the fall. But these could potentially impact how I'm going to what classes I could take in the fall. Typically what I would recommend doing is I'm getting in contact with your academic advisor and giving them a list of. Here's all the classes I'm planning to take at my college.
And then also it can be helpful. I find if you're able to enter those courses into transfer Aladji and send them a list of what their CSU equivalencies are that just cuts out some of the legwork for them, and you can say, hey, here's what I'm planning to take or I'm currently in. I know we're getting ready to register. Could you help me in figuring out how this might impact my registration and they can help guide you from there?
OK, um, but it is a freshman for fall of 20 with a dual credit high school student decided to continue taking summer classes post high school graduation at the Community College now will end up with an associates before fall. Does that change your admitted freshman status? OK, great question. So if you're an admitted first year freshman student and you are going to be taking summer classes
before the fall, that you're going to be starting. So let's say you're starting fall of 20. You're going to take some summer classes. Technically, you're still going to be a first year freshman student, so we leave that summer open so that you can take some of those classes to prepare and come in to start in the fall without it impacting changing your application type. So, again, if you're taking those summer classes and then starting directly in the fall, you're still going to be considered a first year freshman student.
OK, if I'm taking summer classes, do I have to send another transcript? Yes, so you'll actually send us another college transcript. Official transcript. Once those summer grades are posted 'cause we want to make sure to get those summer grades on file for you.
Any other questions for me?
And I will include a link to make appointments with us in the transfer office as well, so you will have that.
If you'd like to set up a one on one.
In here and this will be a direct link and you can see.

Transfer one-on-one virtual appointments: https://connect.colostate.edu/portal/transfer-appointment
Days and times available.
And select a one on one appointment if you'd like to kind of go through some of your specific questions together, or go through any of these pieces. Like I said, I know it's a lot to cover so we can do that with a bit more individual time together and go through your specific questions about what you're seeing specifically. Sometimes that's a little bit easier to do when we're looking at those things.
Any other questions for me?
OK, well if that is it for now, then we'll go ahead and get signed of- again. My name is Katie. I put in the chat ways for us to get connected. When we're done today. If you have some follow up questions for us and like I said, I'd be happy to go through some of those things together and explore more. Thanks so much for tuning into our web and R and we can go ahead and I get connected later and have a good rest of the day.
