Hello everyone, we are still trying to figure some stuff out on our hands so just give us a couple seconds. Will let some people trickle in as well.
Uh, so yeah, looks, I figured we'd give it a couple minutes. I see the number is still going up. I think we had around 30 people registered anyway, so we're pretty close. That will literally just.
Give it about another minute here folks.
Alexa, you can hear me right?
I can hear you good too. I had to turn the volume up.
It's 202 uhm folks will trickle in out there still support the one more person. Just hopped in welcome.
So folks might still be trickling an, but I think we can go ahead and get started, uh, so how? Everyone welcome to the web and R for the campus recreation Department at Colorado State University. My name is Lauren Branch and I am the assistant director for marketing communications for the Department.
And then I am Alexa Asher and I'm the marketing coordinator with campus recreation.
Yeah, so just a couple of disclaimers. One Alexa and I both have goldendoodle puppies. Well Alexis is more of a puppy. Mine is 2 years old now but he still a puppy to Maine.
And so if you hear some barking, that's where that's coming from. So sorry about that. Will try to keep them quiet on our ends and then also, like you know, on a more like related to the web and R tip.
If you have any questions, please feel free to add those as we go through the presentation, but our plan is to go through the entire presentation because there's a chance that we might answer your question along the way and then we'll have plenty of time to answer questions. At the end, I think we we scheduled this until 2:40. I asked him to give us 40 minutes, so that's more than enough time and we need to share the information that we have for you all today.
And, Uh, Yeah. So will just kind of go ahead and get started.
So most folks, when they think of campus recreation, just think of the rec center itself as this facility, where you can kind of come in and workout or do physical activity on your own. But the reality of campus recreation department's not just here I see as you would across the country, is that we offer a lot more than that, including services, programs and events. And then we'll get into.
More details about what that all entails here shortly. That's why we're here today, so I just kind of wanted to give that general information there.
Yeah, so starting off with our mission statement, campus recreation promotes healthy lifestyles by offering quality programs, facilities and services to the CSU community in order to foster a personal growth, leadership development in student success in an environment that embraces individual differences. So pretty much as a Department.
We're doing more than promoting health. We are paying attention to personal growth. Whether that's if your patron. If you're a student, staff member, pro staff, it's highly important to us and then we just updated our statement and Department values this year, officially adding inclusion and it's ingrained into everything that we do is a Department.
And then so we want to show a quick video here, which means I'm gonna have to try and screen share. So hopefully this goes well. One thing that we were warned about before this, both our first time using this platform to give a weapon are so one thing we were warned about previously. It was just that there might be some sound issues. Hopefully you all can hear the video, but if not, the only two videos that were gonna show.
Start to finish or just have music in the background and so this particular video that I'm going to start with here is essentially two leg Cam which I don't know how many of you are familiar with yet, but there are two different mascots here on two different Rams. Ram mascots here on CSU campus. I got two legon, foreleg cancel too late. Cam is literally just a person in a costume like a normal mascot. And then we actually have Cam the Ram who shows up on campus at random times. Random events on campus and things of that nature.
Come and take photos with folks, which is really cool. So this video is too late. Cam essentially taking a tour through the wreck and the video itself is.
I want to say yes, so it's about three years old now, but the good news is we haven't had any major renovations just yet, so this video is still very relevant. We're planning on re shooting it soon, so I'm going to try doing screen share here and let's see how this goes.
Asking me for a password and to change some settings on my computer, so I guess I have to do that.
And if we can't get this to work, will definitely going to share the.
Alexa, can you try sharing the video 'cause it's gonna? It's gonna try and kick me off of Google Chrome if I try to do it right now.

Hopefully you can get it to work.
Yes, there is. The link for the.
Sorry folks, if I if I try to screen share right now, it'll literally kick us all off of here. And will I have to come back in so we're going to try and avoid that here.
You getting anything over there?
Do you want me to try and play the video? Is that what?
Yeah, can you try sharing your screen in the video, sorry.
I don't want to share the link that's.
Loren Branch

Video tour of The Rec^^
It's giving me the same thing.
OK, alright, so unfortunately we don't want to have to kick you all often ask you to log back end in order for us to share the video. So what will do is will just share the video links here in the chat and we'll talk about each one and then you all can copy and paste those links and have a chance to go look at those after we're done with the web and are here. But we won't waste anymore of your time trying to.
Figure out our tech issues here, uhm?
But yeah, so that's what that video is. Again, it's just too late Cam taking a tour of the wreck so you can see the inside of the facility in a really fun way. And so will just kind of move onto.
And so some of these things that you would have seen in that video, and so will just kind of specifically talk about some of the areas that are physically located within the wreck. So we have two floors of cardio and that bottom left photo is the lower floor. It has a really nice view of the mountains and the the eh? That's up in the mountains, which you probably hear about several times, so I'm not going to go into details about that. I'm not even going to pretend that I don't know all the details about that, I just know it's there.
And so two floors of cardio that has a really cool view. And then we have shade. So it's not like you know when folks are working out. You get sun directly in your eyes. We also have three weight rooms, one of which is an Olympic style lifting weight area and has really cool platforms. Is only two years old, so it by the standards of recreation facilities and equipment, it's basically brand new. And then we also have a four quart basketball gym which is not.
Or 4 basketball court gym which is not pictured in any of these three photos. But then In addition to that, we also have a multi activity court gym which is called the Mac Jim and essentially that Jim is kind of located in a secluded area that's in the back of the facility and that's where we have what we call a drop in sports. Or what most folks who go play pick up basketball for example so.
Pick up basketball is usually played on the main floor court gym, but then the Mac Jim itself actually is as is the area that is designated for more specific sports. So like badminton.

hey from richmond, virginia!
Soccer tennis is another random one that gets played back there volleyball things of that nature and then so we also have 4 fitness studios, one of which is dedicated to yoga and then we also have a cycling Studio which is actually what that second picture is on this slide. And then we have a couple few studios that we call flex that essentially is where our group fitness classes take place and Alexa will talk a little bit more about those here shortly.
Moving on to the next slide in some additional features that are in the wreck. So yeah, we have our 55 foot climbing wall. Would you see pictured there? It's really fun is right by the door you can see it from the outside. If you've ever if any of you have ever been on campus, hopefully you'll have at this point.
And for that matter, I wish you all had the opportunity to be on campus. Right now. It's really not. It's a really awesome campus in the summer, but um, anyways, so that's the climbing wall, right there picture. We also have a mat room, and so essentially, that is. Where are martial arts and boxing courses take place? We in the past have also had self defense courses. I know we're in search of a instructor to teach those in the future as well. And then also in that Matt Romar punching bags like different style of punching bags as well.
Uhm, I won't pretend to be an expert on punching bags, but I know there's at least two or three different styles of punching bags in that specific room, and so that's what that is used for. And then we also offer.
Massages and then we'll talk about that later. But there are. Massage studio specifically has two private rooms, and we have plenty of instances, and those are by appointment. And again, that's something we'll get into a little bit later, but something else you see on that second featured photo. There is our Aquatic Center, so there's four lap lanes current channel, which is kind of like a somewhat of a lazy River, is how I would describe that. And then we also have a 40 person spy. You can't really see it. It's in the back left corner of this photo, but it's huge.
Like literally could fit 40 people and it's really nice to be in there when there's no one else in there too. And then we also have a sauna and steam room as well.
And then so the second video link that I'll have Alexa drop-in Alexa, could you label it too? Just so folks can get to it pretty easily.
Alexa Asher
02:14:02 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnPfN0yiYn8&feature=emb_title Weight Room
Is essentially this video will show off the weight room that we added in 2018, which is the Olympic weight room that I just briefly talked about and it shows off all the different things that we have available in that space is another really cool video so please feel free to check that out after we are done with the web and are here.
Then I'm gonna have Alexa move into talking about some of the services that we offer at campus recreation.
Yes, so we have a variety of services here at campus rack. First one being locker and towel rentals, so the locker rental is an additional charge per semester. But this means you get your own locker and it's important that you.
Start you run this out in the beginning of the semester 'cause they do run out pretty quickly, but it's very convenient and a great place to store your belongings. But if this is something that you don't want to do, we do have day use lockers that are available for members there available throughout the facility and our lockers that have folks on him. The they're on a first come, first serve basis each day an it's recommended that you bring your own lock, but you can purchase a lock from the front desk for just $7.00. If you need to.
The another thing about day you suckers as they must be cleaned out in the lock needs to be removed each night before your closing. If items are left overnight, this will result in the lock being cut in your items being put into the last inbound. So that's an important note but definitely recommend the locker rentals.
We also have personal training, which I'll get into a little bit after in a couple slides, but we have personal trainers that are dedicated and focused on your goals in your fitness journeys.
We also have outdoor gear rentals which is really amazing. This is something you can run out gear over breaks. If you wanted to do or say you want to take a weekend trip and you don't have anything to take with you, this is a place where you can go. If you want to go camping and you have zero equipment. Really awesome. Like Warren said, we do have massage therapy. There is a cost associated with this as well, but it's usually it's $27.00 for a 30 minute massage. But we do offer 30 minutes, 60 and 90 minute massages.
And these are books by appointment.
We also have Red Cross certification courses. This is if you want to be re certified or say you need to be certified for the first time if you want to become a lifeguard at the rec or just to have the certification for any other reason. So you can take that class here.
Like Lauren said before, we do have drop-in recreation hours or pick up games. Basketball being our most popular sport. So from about 5:00 to 9:00 PM the courts are usually filled with people playing pickup games. It's a really fun environment. We have different sports like table tennis, badminton, volleyball and then pickle. Ball is another sport that pops up every now and again.
Then moving on to spouse partner and you towers so the these hours allow our members to bring in their spouse partner and up to four youth. This is 17 years and younger and into the rec center with them for free, so these hours are buried. You can definitely look at our website to find these hours.
We also have gas access available, so in case one of your friends want to come visit you and decide that they want to spend a day at the rec, they can do so. We do just ask that they fill out a guest access form. This is only $5 and they have to bring an ID and then they can use the facility.
And then after that we do have break hours. We usually have different hours for spring fall and winter semester will be a little bit reduced. But like I said before, you can check the website for these hours and we always communicate these hours prior to breaks. We also do have hours over the summer, but it's important that we do have to have a membership during the summer.
Which leads into the membership information that will be on tour right now.
How do I go to the next slide, Lawrence?
Did it go well? He dropped off.
If you just wait for a moment, um, it looks like Lauren lost connection.
And I he was controlling the slides and I can't. So just hang out for 1 second.
Missed responding to you, but.
Yes, I got all the way down into them and and then I just couldn't figure out how to go to the next slide.
OK, so students paying full-time fees for the current term are provided with memberships at no additional cost. So usually students are taking more than 6 credits, so this means that you have a membership. Include it right away, but there are different options available for part time students and faculty, so all that information is also on our website and then like we talked about before, there are spouse in partner in youth hours.
And then some things at the memberships include is full access to the student Recreation Center Group Fitness classes. It's noted that some are included in the membership and then others are an additional cost. I'll get into that when we get into the fitness classes there day, you slackers climbing all access and then recreation equipment, so this is if you're going to put play pick up basketball and you don't have a basketball here and go to the desk tray, them your ID for a basketball.
So we have a variety of program areas including Fittness, Aquatics, intramural sports, sports programs and outdoor programs and then Lauren and I are going to go into detail about all of these programs.
So with fitness programs we do have group fit classes. There's also a fitness events and challenges. For example, I know that there was a bench press competition where they just put a bench press in the middle of the gym and then that's how it went.
Personal training does have a cost, but the more sessions you buy, the cheaper they become, so keep that in mind. We do have yoga in cycle class. Is the cycling classes are completely free? That's included in your membership, but yoga classes are about $4 a class, which I think is pretty reasonable. And then you can do $70.00 a semester, which is awesome. We do are also offer martial arts Indians classes. This is martial arts like Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu.
Did you have dance classes that range from ballroom to hip hop and a variety more? We had over 25,000 participants each semester in these program areas.
And it looks like Lauren is frozen again.
So hopefully Alex that answered your questions about which kind of fitness classes to CSU offer. Our dance classes free? Yes, they should be included in your membership.
And then Jaimee gym hours should be listed on line. They are differing right now because we're not currently open, but the old ones should be up on there.
So that's what I see when you like.
yeah, it froze for me for a second.
OK, yeah um so with Aquatics programs this is access to the Aquatic Center. Like Lauren mentioned before, we do have group and private swim lessons as well as those Red Cross certification courses that I mentioned before. Sorry that was my puppy. You heard that.
Or I am sports or intermural sports are $10 per semester and you can play as many as you want, which is usually up to 7 sports. If you're fully committed to that. We do have contests events which are one time events and then tournaments that are day long events and then leagues are the most popular. So you did I cut.
And then the leaves are most popular, which you can pick up.
And well you can gather friends in like pick a day of the week that works for you best Anna time and then you play 4 to 5 weeks and then eventually you reach playoffs and go from there so over 5000 students completed an intermural's last year and it looks like lauren's frozen again.
OK, I just finished I am.
