There are people joining.
There you can hear us. I don't see your video currently.
Where were you talking to her on?
Everyone give us a second. We're working through a little technical difficulty here.
And we're gonna give it some time while folks are still joining too.
Yes, try try broadcast Sarah if you have that option and hit it.
Oh wow, that Hector Boys.
Yes, it 'cause I had opened in two tabs because it wasn't working in one.
I'm not getting that going.
The presentation looks like it is.
That's good, I think we're all set up and that will give it a couple more minutes here. I'll folks are still joining.
I've also just so you know, in like the folks who are listening and watching know as well. Like I've had some issues with this before and like so if you like lag out or anything, just refresh your page and or click close and click the link again. Whatever works, but you should be able to get back in pretty easily if you could have any issues.
Actually gonna grab some water right quick and will just give it like another couple minutes. See if we get anymore folks.
Yeah, and if you guys are out there, be sure to csus Instagram right now for my exciting story. I just ran by because I was doing pull up's and talking about covid regulations and by doing pull-ups I mean from applying metric box.
Yeah, the takeover. It looks awesome so far. I'm glad you had a chance to plug that here figure we would at some point anyway.
Yeah, I'm excited for more stuff. Today I had two tests so now I'm full free ring.
I will give it about one more minute, see if anyone else joins and then we'll just go ahead and get started here.
Cool, alright, so since we're all in here and there's no more echoing right now, we're going to go ahead and get started and will go through the technical difficulties as they arise. Hopefully none do.
Yeah, so hi everyone, welcome to the web browser fall series webinar with campus recreation. I know a lot of folks when you think of Campus Recreation, you just think of that first picture right there. The facility itself and just kind of like coming into work out openly and to you know, like play, pickup, basketball, things of that nature.
But Campus Recreation is an entire Department with lots of programs and services, and so that's what we're here to talk to you all about today. And my name is Lauren Branchini, assistant director for marketing and communications, or let layer Lillian Sarah images themselves.
Yeah, I'm Sarah, so stack. I am also an outreach assistant for the marketing team and I'm also one of the building managers at the rec.
So that is our team here with you today.
That first slide is just hard apartments for core values and then our mission statement is campus recreation promotes healthy lifestyles while offering quality programs, facilities and services to the CSU community. In order to foster personal growth, but growth, leadership, development and student success, an environment that embraces individual differences just like a small note to throw in there.
You know inclusion is one of the Department values, and I'd say it's one that's like one of the ones that's like the most ingrained into everything that we do, even though it was just recently added in a formal sense, is something that's an apartment has been focusing on an as many different ways as possible.
So just kind of wanted to plug that and then other things too that I forgot to say at the beginning is if you have questions please feel free to drop them into the box and I just saw 1F why you did not miss anything yet.
But anyways, drop them into the box and then our plan is to answer questions at the end because there's a good chance that any questions you all ask throughout the course of the presentation may be answered as we go through it. So you want to get through it first just for the sake of time, and then also the video sound was not coming through when we first got on. Lily said she couldn't hear it, so will play these videos and then we'll play this first video which is essentially Cam ram.
And some of you may or may not know, but there's a two leg Cam with the actual like mascot in the costume, but there's also for leg Cam. There is an actual ram that the University has around campus, which is pretty cool things.
So yeah, this is too late Cam. Taking a tour of the rec. There are some things that are changed right now as far as like how the rec is set up but will talk about kind of what that looks like. But this video is a pretty good example. What direct looks like under normal circumstances as well.
There's a little bit of a Bureau of what direct looks like on a regular basis, and I did not mean close that window. Ohmygod, I can't believe I just Alright give me one second to open that presentation back up, but while I'm searching for that.
Just kind of FY I for you all what we're kind of. We're going to go through and focus on. Essentially will be what the Department looks like on a regular basis and what we offer, but also will kind of talk you all through. What are some of the changes that have been made in the wake of the global pandemic and how we are remaining open and trying to keep folks healthy in the meantime. But now I'm going to switch things over to Sarah.
Yes, so on that note, CSU is like a nationally top ranked rec center, so we also have amazing kovid for crashing. So here are some of the big things we have highlighted. We have one of our main requirements is wearing masks throughout the facility and that means all the way on at all times. I'm really pushing that the building manager to make sure we keep things open because your mask is blue nose. You know you're just breathing like normal.
And then we've also changed her locker rooms and we implement social distancing. An AR building capacity is now 175 people and this is just to promote promote social distancing and make it a good and safe experience for everyone as much as we can.
on that note, we can go to the next slide and talk more about what the facility itself looks like, so I'm glad you guys got to see that video to kind of see A day in the life when CSU rack is like fully up and going cams walking around like there's just good vibes everywhere and so normally we have. We always do. We have two floors of cardio equipment. This means that I have personally in my 2 years of working here. I've never seen the cardio equipment completely full. There's always room for more people. We have 3 weight rooms including.
One brand new one. What should we got in 2018 with two guys? Will sit it Yo bout soon afore court gym where we have drop in sports like volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer.
In the Mac gym and then we have strictly basketball gym in our main floor and we also have 4 fitness studios which we use for yoga and cycling and two that can be used for any classes like Zumba, an barbell, fitness, CrossFit, all that good stuff. If we go in the next slide.
Please see the current operations and right now we are having all of our cardio equipment. Has this double laminated sign which it will say clean and green and red else say dirty. So after patrons were done with it they flip it over to make sure that our staff can clean. Make sure we clean absolutely everything after it's used. In addition, the basketball score is currently turned into extra cardio space so all of our fitness can be 6 to 10 feet. Fitness equipment can be 6 to 10 feet away from each other so.
Are you sweating and running or elliptical ang you're not sweating on anyone? It's super safe.
And then for the rest of the facility, we have a 55 foot linear climbing wall an on campus editorial. Come into this is like one of the highlights. It's right when you walk in the rack, we have a little bouldering space and we even have a little route to practice ice climbing. There's no ice involved, but it's super cool and we also have a mat room. But where we have martial arts classes and you also go into kick punch the punching bag.
Two massage studios with professional massage therapists and students can sign up for those services.
An the Aquatic Center. Another highlight of any torrent campus where we have a four Lane lap pool current channel which.
Is also known as a lazy River, so you have the tubes and you can just chill out after your workout. A 40 person spa, sauna, steam room and a little water Rockwall which you can see in the image. The 40 person sauna is always a hoot to see it is huge and people will always say that they will go and laminate their notes on finals week so they can study in the sauna. And like how cool is that?
But due to kobid we are having the pool close because you can't really wear mask in the pool as an addition to the mat room. Massage studios for social distancing purposes and then the climbing wall is still open which were super excited about it has limited capacity. We're really making sure it's getting cleaned often. Everyone sanitizing their hands then choose before they come in and those are just a couple of things we can do to keep.
The place open. I'm really impressed with all the patrons right now. Like everyone is working towards keeping this place cleaned so we can use it. 'cause it's space we love.
And here's our video for our 2018 weight room.
We have more dumbbells and I could probably count in a shift and there's our Olympic platform.
We really have a little bit of everything in this space.
OK, now I'll send it off to Lily to talk more about the services we offer.
Yeah, so we have locker and towel rentals we have like.
All the way like from bottom to top lockers and then we have half lockers as well in the locker rooms.
If you don't get a locker, so we do like rentals, and then if you don't get a locker, there's always plenty of day use lockers, the day use lockers are available on a first come first serve kind of base is an all you need is to bring your own lock an to make sure to take off the lock when you're done at the rec. We have personal training available, but it does come at an extra cost.
And then we also have outdoor gear rentals. They're available over break on their $10 for 30 days and $25 for 90 days. We also have massage therapy, which I like a lot is very nice.
It is an extra cost so it's $27.00 for 30 minutes and then we have a Red Cross certification courses and they're available. Ann, usually cheaper than certifications. All campus, which is really nice. We have drop-in sports, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and a bunch of other ones that are super fun like pickle ball.
Youth hours start on Friday. Oh sorry wow, I got all messed up so we have spouse, partner and youth hours. The youth hour start on Fridays and go through Sunday, but children do need to be with their Guardian and then we also have guest access in. All you need is your student ID or an ID in general and then $5 which is nice and then our hours over break we have ours over fall, winter and spring break.
And then for summer break, you either need to be taking six on campus credits or have to pay for a membership.
And then for our current operations on the next slide. So unfortunately, right now the men and women's locker rooms are unavailable there only available for changing and restrooms only, so we can't use any lockers. And then of course, like in the rest of the building, physical distancing is required.
Um days lockers outside of the locker room are unavailable, which is still nice. An then the showers are unavailable as well.
And then for a campus recreation memberships on the.
Did I skip over something?
Um, so also. Unfortunately, the massage therapy towel service, outdoor gear rental and drop in recreation is unavailable. But we do have personal training available with restrictions an it's outside or virtual Ann are Red Cross certification courses are CPR, CPR classes have a class capacity of nine, an require physical distancing as well.
OK, so on to the campus recreation memberships, so students paying full student fees for the current semester term are provided memberships at no additional cost. But again, you do need to be taking six on campus credits or more and some on line classes may not count towards this as well as memberships are available for purpose or purchased a part time students.
The staff alumni in spouses or partners an we have a lot of type or we have a lot of memberships here, but if all else fails, we stole that guest membership that again is all you need is an ID in $5.
And then the memberships include and this is on the next slide.
Only one thing I want to add, right click it just also like with COVID-19 and the.
Limited building capacity, I guess restrictions is how it should put that their Rep is currently only open to students as well, which you know all of you all being potential students. That's the good thing for good news for you. But yeah, I just want to make sure that information out there as well.
An then memberships include full access to the student Recreation Center, facilities group, fitness classes, day use lockers, the climbing wall access, Anna recreation equipment.
Cool, so I'm going to kind of close us out here to some extent. I guess like talking about the various program areas.
And what they are specifically entail. One of the things that I think it's important, that kind of let's think about here is this. Like understanding what these different areas mean, can help you kind of like find the information that you need or get in contact with the folks that you need to get in contact with. Get set information or to search our website. For example, 'cause the website is all kind of like separated by these various areas and offerings, and so specifically.
Campus recreation program areas include fitness, Aquatics in real sports or clubs, an outdoor programs, and so we're going to literally talk about them in that order, including some of the current operations, some of which we've actually touched on already.
They have a fitness program area specifically covers group fitness classes. There are also events and challenges that happen throughout the course of the year.
We offer personal training, yoga and cycle classing classes as well as martial arts and dance courses as well, and I actually believe this is something Lillian's error that we should look into, potentially changing on this slide because I believe this number is actually higher now than 25 then.
But yeah, some of the current operations in regards to the fitness area personal training is available. We talked about how that's happening, either virtually or outside the wreck it with some physical distancing without some with physical distancing. And then there's also group classes that are currently happening outdoors, including yoga and cycling classes, which have limited capacity.
Anwer requiring folks to register in advance and there's a schedule that gets published on the website weekly as well. In addition to that, over the summer while the facility was closed, we had personal trainers, yoga instructors, group fitness instructors, and things of that nature. Create some content that's available on social media pages and especially the best places to look there are You Tube and Instagram as well. We've also been doing an Instagram live class.
Weekly as well, I believe that's still going. I have to double check on that, but I know that the intention is to have some of those. Some of that virtual.
Engagement opportunities happening, you know, even during the Times of having limited building capacity and during the pandemic in such but one of the good things about fitness area is one of the only things that it is unavailable right now. Currently is the dance and martial arts courses. And then there are also.
Also, the mat room is another area that's closed, so as far as going in with the punching bags and things of that nature, that would be an area where would be difficult for us to kind of.
Ensure that physical distancing and the.
Public health protocols are being followed so that area is closed, so the Aquatics program includes the Aquatic Center which we talked about. How that's closed, but when it is usually open, we also offer group and private swim lessons.
Red Cross certification courses are usually less restrictive than they are right now, with the lower capacity and physical distancing and such. So we just talked about that last point and then in real sports I'm going to talk about sport clubs after this, so I want to make sure I've talked about that comparison point, but in a row. Sports includes tournaments, leagues and contest between CSU students and staff for that matter. Actually there are staff that participates we have staff basketball team last year actually.
And that actually is something that is also an additional cost. So it's essentially IAM. Membership is $10 per month and then.
Excuse me with that membership, you can literally can. You can literally play as many of the sports that are offered for that semester that you would like to. And yeah, we've had we had over 5000 students compete last semester then Yeah, currently those operations, like the internal sports, is just there's less options I guess is what I should say like there's limited number of sports being played and masks are required and doing physical distancing as much as possible and there's a lot of.
Protocol is being taken with the animal officials slash referees as well, and then so something that's a little bit different than the intermural sports are sport clubs.
And sport clubs essentially compete like the second bullet point points out there at a national level, and they travel and basically play against other.
Institutions across the country. I know we've had some sport clubs win national championships, for example, it's you know what I what I like to compare two is. It's a lot more like the varsity level sports that it is.
Real sports, as far as like traveling and things of that nature, and so we have 30 different sport clubs ranging from swimming, so lacrosse.
So sport clubs do get some funding from student fees, but there are also membership dues, but a lot of these sport clubs were really great job.
Fund raising in order to kind of like offset the costs for those who want to participate.
And currently in the Times of COVID-19, unfortunately there are no sport club competitions, but they are allowed to participate in some in person activities. That's one of the many things as I could really say about almost anything that we discussed today that is continuously being.
Analyzed and considered as like you know what? How are things changing with public health guidelines and things of that nature?
But yeah, that sport clubs in the difference between those and Inter Merrell's.
And then so another program area at the rest is the outdoor programs. And so although programs offer 50 or 6060 trips every year and normal circumstances, I guess.
And those trips, like, really, they're mostly regional an some are even like within the city of Fort Collins itself as well, and those are really awesome and we have a lot of like cool photos on the Instagram and past stories about the trips as well. If you're interested in checking out what some of those have previously looked like.
And also the outdoor program usually offers free clinics on various outdoor topics which include by Brad Country cooking two avalanche safety. So they literally cover a plethora of things there.
And we also have the outdoor gear rental and I specifically added that language for a variety of outdoor activities because it just like the clinics. It definitely ranges from your everyday like camping and hiking to also like your winter activities as well about in the mountains and things.
And then this program area also has like bouldering competitions and climbing wall and there's a couple film festivals as well.
So current operations in outdoor program.
There's a couple of things that are being planned to return this fall semester, which are the trips and outdoor gear rental?
Our team here at the Department outdoor program folks are specifically working with the pandemic preparedness team to kind of come up with a plan that keeps everyone nice and healthy. Well, you know continuing the services.
And also there are clinics that will be held virtually during the fall semester as well. And then there's some previous clinics that have presentations available on our website right now that we actually put up over this summer.
And then unfortunately, you know some of the things that are suspended indefinitely. While you know we kind of wait and see how things pan out here. Include the events, competitions at film festivals. One thing I'll say about the film festivals is those are specifically like independently made.
Outdoor related films and they're one of the activities that we that we have at the rec that sells out really quickly. So when those do come back, if you're an outdoorsy person and you're interested in that, make sure that you keep an eye out on the website and social media and jump on getting the tickets as soon as possible and there's something else to that. I would say about trips is that we literally.
As the marketing and communications team, we literally get asked to stop promoting the trips. Maybe within the first couple weeks of the semester, just because they pretty much all book up rather quickly. So when those do return, that's something else to make sure that you take advantage of as soon as possible.
Um, and then we're not going to show this video, 'cause it's a whole life.
5 minute video and it's pretty long, but what I will do is I'll drop the link in the chat here shortly.
Y'all can check this out. It's really awesome video about some of our.
Women who have worked or are currently working in outdoor programs area is really awesome. It's one of my favorite videos that that we've ever made.
And yeah, so that is enough of my voice. I'm going to let Sarah talk about student employment at campus recreation and Lilly will close this out. Talking a little bit about social media and will take some questions.
Yes, so I'm excited to talk about working at the rack. I'm really passionate and just proud to be a wreck employee. I know CSC slogan is kind of proud to be an I can say that everyone in the rack is really proud to be. Here are four values are community inclusion, development and integrity and they really focus on building each one of those up for us an my personal journey as as an employee here was I applied to be a wreck assistant which is.
You think the people that just clean the equipment and are there to just watch and enforce the rules? An I got hired didn't know anyone and then a couple months in I they had signups to be on the hiring committee so they let us all conduct the interviews. Anyone who wanted to sign up could do it and you got to learn resume development, how to conduct interviews, how to be a better interviewer. And so I got to join that and then eventually I got promoted to building manager an applied for this marketing job and it's just been so cool to see how much wreck has helped my career. Personally I show professors my resume and.
Pretty much all rack stuff and they just like can't believe how professional it is. And for example we have meant classes that.

Focus on all of our values and stuff like inclusion, diversity, conflict management, strength finders, adulting, everything. You could pick up to help you be promoting your karere, and when you do apply the positions as you can see are the member services assistant wreck two outdoor people which we kind of went over. Lifeguards facilities pretty much any section of the rack we have students working in. It's really amazing even for the facility side where I clean, I clean. I enforce policy.

I provided inclusive environment for patrons. We have people that work up in that position to become supervisors and eventually go to grad school for recreation, which is so cool and the rec really looks out for us with our like development community we every year we have rec Olympics which is like a cool game where employees from all departments can sign up and get involved to compete against each other. See which team is the big champions and this year we even have it as an app on our phones which is super cool. So even during the pandemic.
I think I'm amazed by how CSU recreation has handled it, especially for our students, and we also have service and volunteer opportunities. We are partners. We do a lot with Special Olympics and nurse offer national competitions for.

How fun the rat can be. Honestly an sometimes like Lauren said earlier, they've had like little live like workout sessions and stuff like that which is really nice like 'cause all my classes are online so you can be at home and do these things and still participate in the rec which is super nice. And then I'd also highly suggest looking at our YouTube because when all of the COVID-19 stay at home orders happened.
We posted a lot of our like workouts and video stuff on our YouTube so people could participate from home, which is really nice. And then the other two. the Twitter and Facebook. I think it's honestly just really important to be engaged an honestly the rec is such a good place to be engaged if you're going to be engaged with CSU and then just so everyone knows, we have the link to the reopening site for the rec which will have all up to date information about the wreck, about what our current procedures and.
Stuff like that looks like so yeah.

Alright cool, so that is the end of our formal presentation there. Uh, put as many links as I could think of that were relevant to the things that we were just discussing.
Um, in the chat over here and then we do have a few questions, so we'll just kind of answer those steps or even the sound thing is something that is a little out of our control. It's weird because the last time that we use this platform we had sound.
Sorin Nadig
11:37:18 AM
In the martial arts classes, are there self-defense classes?
Uh, but Hannah asked if in the martial arts classes are there self defense classes. So to answer that question is yes, we have had self defense classes in the past, and it's my understanding that they will be making a comeback here soon because unfortunately.
We lost the cell phone fit in defence instructor.
During the spring semester, I think, and then so there was kind of some uncertainty. If we were going to find a new instructor to kind of host those classes, but we have as my understanding and that'll be coming back, so I'll back it up with something to keep an eye out for.
Um, is there a fencing Sports Club?
I'm I'm not familiar with every single sport club, but we're going to find out right now since we can pull up.
Ah, I looked it up. So we used to have us fencing for fencing, Sports Club and now we don't anymore.
Mitchell McGarry
11:38:11 AM
Is there a fencing sports club?
Which is super unfortunate, so I apologize.
But there is a properties to create new clubs so.
Yeah, and there's a process for all of that.
What is someone else just ask about polo?
Evan Shores
11:38:38 AM
Do you still have a polo team?
Yes, we do have pulled. Why do I have a couple of friends on the team and it's I've heard so many good things about it. I know they were junior, varsity and varsity team so it's a pretty big program and their house out at the Equine Center which is just West of campus. So definitely check that out.
Yeah, and I mean that this kind of likes searching through our website function is one of the best ways to answer your questions about sport clubs in the future and something else that I will say as well as if you're looking for information about a specific.
Program area like one of the best things you can do is hover over about and go to our team and just Scroll down and you know we have folks in marketing communications. If you're interested in something related to that and just have a general email for that as well, I'll go programs all the different program areas have full time staff that are available as well, so just FYI on that. While you're searching through our website.
Evan Shores
11:39:30 AM
Yeah!
Yeah, I don't know if there are Lily. Is there anything else I'm missing or if anyone else had the question, feel free to drop it in.
Evan Shores
11:39:32 AM
Thank you
I think that's in pretty excited to see new faces at the rack. There's really something for everyone here.
I was just going to say basically what Sarah said. Yeah, it's really exciting seeing new faces and having like new energy around, so that's really nice. So yeah.
Yeah cool, well that is it for us today. Thank you all for joining us in for submitting your questions. As I previously said by please feel free to reach out to us on social media or to reach out to folks via email with their contact information on our website and have a good rest of your Friday and a great weekend as well. Thanks everyone.
